2nd iron infusion down the hatch!
I then had a consult with a very nice internist to see if he would agree to do a D injection. No luck. He'd never heard of the DS or so much as seen a D injection administered, and he'd never seen me before in his life. Meh, okay, I can't blame him for not wanted to leap into utterly uncharted waters :-). However, he spent a whole hour with me, getting educated about the DS and looking up what little stuff we could find (in addition to the articles Kayla had sent me) on the use of injected D in the bariatric population. And he didn't charge me for his time cuz, he said, he couldn't complete the consultation.
I like this guy. Very ethical. Definitely keeping him in mind for PCP when we move out here.
Iron infusion question for you. I had my first one yesterday, which I won't go into all the fine details, but I'm wondering how quickly you/ someone starts feeling more energetic/ less fatigued when they receive an iron infusion. I'm not sure if it will work for me anyway since my ferritin's 470 (with low serum & % saturaiton, though), but the heme guy wouldn't proceed with anything else until we did this first.

Lisey, I have had 4 infusions with iron dextran, thus far, months apart. After infusions 1 and 4 I felt way better the very next day. So much so that I was shocked! However, the doc says that it takes 2 weeks to become effective. From what others have reported on this board it seems it is a your mileage may vary thing. -Jenny
That's wonderful to find a Dr who will sit down and listen to you and actually LEARN about what you are telling them. I've had no such luck as of yet, but I am not giving up.
Best of luck on your move :)
