I thought it was going to be smooth sailing.

I ended up with a huge emergency transfusion after I came back from Kuwait in August 2011.  I got an emergency call from the gastroenterologist filling in for mine on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, insisting I go to the nearest ER IMMEDIATELY.  I ended up being admitted.  It probably saved my life.
