Vitamin Toxicity!

The most likely answer is they nixed up your samples with someone else! And do check with Dr. K.

as others said, redo the labs. And if they come back the same, see Dr. K., and maybe have a swallow test or scope, just to check everything.

Would a fistula alter absorption?

I would do two things. Did you get a copy of the results or are you simply being told this by your doctor's office. If you don't have a complete copy of your labs, get them. Second, I agree with everyone else -- completely retest all your labs (might even go to a different lab).

I had to stop taking separate B12 (the only B12 I get now is from my multi vitamins). I do take massive amounts of D3 (150K per day) and I'm barely at normal range.

I've never heard of all labs being off the charts.

Did you take your vitamins just before your lab draw? That will shoot mine very high. I stop my vitamins 2-3 days before my lab work. I get more accurate results. My D was 114 and my PCP wanted me to stop for 2 months, along with my calcium 10.5 - range 8.5-10.4. I stopped for 5 days and retested. My D dropped to 80 and my calcium to 9.5. Can you imagine what my levels would have been if I'd stopped for 2 months.

I'd retest, but not take your vitamins for 2-3 days and then see where your levels are.

My blood tests were repeated 2 weeks after the first. Vitamin D level still high, but down to 120. Only my vitamin levels D, B still are high; the only one I'm concerned about is the D. I did not take my vitamins the morning of the first (or 2nd) test. I skipped the vitamins for 10 days - still high. I have the hard copies, so I compared this year's with last. Last year, vit D WAS normal, but in the high range, as was B12, B6. After last year's test, I cut back from 2 50,000 Vit D daily to just 1 50,000 capsule daily - for the last 12 months.

I cannot stress enough what Dr. Keshishian believes - that I super-absorb: I have never had gas issues or toilet issues like most ds-ers. I struggle with constipation, though I use butter, olive oil etc. generously. There are always exceptions...and I guess I am one. I'm contacting Dr. K to see what he advises.

Thanks for all of your input!

I have completely eliminated additional B vitamins (I only get what is in my multi-vitamin) and my numbers are still really high. Never had issues with high D (lucky you). You might need to cut the D back to one every other day or something like that. As long as you keep checking you should be OK.

See what Dr. K says but sounds like you're tracking everything and are probably super absorbing (just shows how different all of DSers are).

I do have to supplement B1 & 12, but 6 is always high, no B-Complex for me. I like to keep my D between 80-120. Also, did you say what your PTH was? If you PTH is still high, you may need to add more calcium.

My PTH was normal. I DO take about 4000 units of calcium citrate daily, and potassium citrate, because I have oxalate kidney stones. Thanks for your input.

I had my DS from lapband performed 5 years ago, and have struggled to reach goal - which is still 40 lbs away - despite being vigilant with protein, carbs, water, etc. I just got back my annual labs, and all vitamin levels are off the charts! This has never happened before. I have searched online for current recommended vitamin supplementation for DS surgery, but cannot find one. Could someone post it here? I know I super-absorb calories, fats, etc...so I obviously need to cut way back on my vitamins. Please, could someone share their total daily vitamin regimen, so I can compare? Thanks!
