Is it possible for your employer to over rule an exclusion in your health insurance policy?

I have BCBS TN and of course there is an exclusion stating no treatment regarding obesity. I sent a letter to our human resources dept at my employment and received a call from them last week requesting medical reports and letters I have from my neurologist, psychiatrist, PCP and my surgeon. Does anyone think I actually have a shot at this? I'm not a very patient person which poses a problem but I just want to hear from anyone out there your opinion. Thanks.

I had BCBS SC which also has an obesity treatment exclusion however, I was approved within 2 weeks of my first consult. My Lap RNY was covered at 100%!!!! Good Luck and hang in there
