So miserable and sad

The way I cured my anxiety over waiting for my surgery date is I started on protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, and a small protein meal with veggies for dinner (like fish or chicken). Also I started walking to work and back. I was sick and tired of waiting and feeling helpless and at the mercy of some office staff. I feel like I have gained control of my life back again. I meet my surgeon in 2 weeks, and then have to wait for my surgery date to be booked. But at least I am not waiting on my weight loss. That's happening right now.

You have a very positive attitude.  I too have started walking to and/or from work, and while I don't have that teleconference booked, I know it'll come, just have to wait my turn as others have said.  I've called Hamilton just to make sure that my file is there, and hopefully they'll get back to me soon.  Apart from that, there's obviously nothing I can do other than try to gain some control over myself because I certainly can't control the situation.  Thanks, everyone, I guess I needed a verbal "snap out of it".  Trying to stay more positive from this point onward.

Take a deep breathe.

This is a journey and it takes as long as it takes.  EVERYONE is different.  The timing is different, the program is different, the visits are different.

Living down the street from the clinic did nothing to push me closer to a date - I waited 20 months.  Your time will come when it is your time.

Doctors take vacations, staff take vacations, OR's get over booked, fundings get cut, and we can do nothing to change it . Focus on what you can change and not the things you cannot control.

Start a healthy lifestyle now - cut back on food, walk if you can, keep your mind busy and take this journey one day at a time.

I am actually happy that I have a few weeks before surgery - It has given me the opportunity to really prepare for afterwards. :) Good luck and keep up posted!

Be happy that you're not in Ottawa!   In all serious though, call if you think it will help.

hey here's another plus, you get to do with meeting with the surgeon by teleconferencing.  I live 8 hours from hospital of choice and have to pay my way down there, not once but i don't even want to think of how many times.  I wish we had a way to do the teleconferencing for at least some of the interviews, not that i don't want the full experience but its hard to plan events coming up in your live (financially and children) when you keep hoping your next appt is in said amount of days.  yes i can apply for the northern travel grant and get some money back for travelling but upfront i pay for it and lose more time at work.  So there is always an up side to everything.

Hey Tammy we do tele conferencing here..I did it when I was meet with the Vivian and Kelly from Thunder Bay and I was suppose to do it to meet the surgeon but hamilton didnt know anything about setting it up so I just went down there..so talk to the center you are going to about it..because they do the tele conference meetings at the hospital and at 83 Willow Ave its one of the group health center buildings. Hope this helps :)

Hey Tammy, it sure does, i'll make sure when I go down to ask about it.  My kids are already worried about me going down there in May as i'm just getting back from Vegas ( first trip in years) so at least one less trip down would be amazing on both family life and pocket book.

oh it is easier with the money...All my meetings after surgery will be that way with Thunder Bay unless I need to see the surgeon..because northern travel grant wont cover my travel grant there because my actual assessment center should have been in Toronto.
