Glad she found this...
Arlene Jamieson Nurse in this morning and removed a 4 inch peice of silvercell packing..that was about 2 months old...squeezed it until it bled so it got flushed out, and then cleaned with betedine and packed it..I automatically went to after hour clinic and got antibiotics.. in the event there is some kind of infection there.

Better out than in I say!!! Now we know why my packing was falling out all the time.

Have a great day and long weekend!!

You did the right thing about getting antibiotics. Yikes you would think that someone would have noticed it a little earlier. Glad to hear things are now on the right track.

Glad to hear you got the antibiotics.

You might want to contact that nursing agency that's been coming regularily and praise the current nurse for her thoroughness and ask a question or two about wound care and what might have happened that a piece of old packing got left in so long. I know some nurses are wound care specialists... perhaps it would be good to request either the last nurse return or they send out only highly specialized nurses in the future.

Heres to hoping things heal nicely from here on in.

Here's the thing..I haven't been with silvercell since I visited Dr Nanda in Toronto Mar. 3rd when he changed my dressing because I wasn't healing.

That piece has been in there since before then..

I have been on Antibiotics Clavulan twice since my surgery..I have asked on more than one occaision is there anything in there..No Arlene there isn't..is the reply I got.

The nurse today seen the drainage, as my dressings wouldn't stay in there..it isn't a big hole

maybe 1/4 inch wide and 4.5 deep.. just imagine a 4 in piece of siliver cell coming out of there. with a hole lot of pus..right after she pulled it out and she pushed around and got a lot more out of there.

I cried cause and gave her a big hug thanking her..Omg I am in still shock form this..She told me to get to the after hour clinic and get on some proper antiotics.. I did..so now I am on another antibotic for another 10 days. so unless there is something else I should be healed in two weeks..I will be emailing the surgeon later tonight.

I am going to sleep better tonight knowing that may have been my issue..here's to hoping..
I had been having a reoccuring dream about something light in there. It was the silivercell packing...but the nurse assured me there wasn't anything there. So what do you do..

Arlene, I was coming to you looking for some advice.
I was going to ask you if you had any adivce for wound care, an in retrospect type of a thing.
Now I'm just left shaking my head and very glad you shall now be healing at a faster rate.

My mom had a tummy tuck back at the end of April.  She is starting to get an infection and the skin is starting to have a slight gap in it.

Some drs say, do nothing but allow it to air out, take antibiotics, use gauze.... others would say use hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointments on it.  Just kind of wondering your take after you have been through so much?
