Cheating on Optifast

I am just curious. I have been on Optifast for 12 days now. My surgery is in 2 days. I have never slipped up once, never cheated. I've even stayed on the Optifast when the surgeon felt I should get off it because I had such an allergic reaction. Anyway I'm just curious if anyone has ever cheated and ate something a day or two before hand? I keep looking at my cream soup thinking 16 more days just 16 days.

I would strongly discourage cheating. You need to stay in ketosis in order to shrink your liver. My surgeon said I had the liver of an 18 year old lol try and keep your eye on the prize, your date will be here before you know it!

In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

Thanks for the encouragement.  I know I won't cheat. I was just curious. I heard of one person eating a birthday cake the night before surgery. I am a little hungry these past couple of days but I think I will stick to my broth.

Could you imagine if your surgeon found food in your stomach or intestines? That would be worse than embarrasing, could affect the surgeon's ability to complete surgery.

Don't cheat. It is not worth it. This is the start to your new life. I look at this way if you can not handle the opitfast rules and follow the diet than how do you expect to follow your new eating habits after surgery.  This is such a life change.  You can do it.  2 more days and you will have a very new life

If you have cheat, cheat with some lettuce .. yeah i know hardly a thrilling thought. Its allowed on the HRRH program.. not saying you should go against doc's orders but likely the safest thing to cheat with if you have to.

I didn't cheat cause no way was i going to be that person the surgeon opened up looked at and went, "pffffffft, she didn't follow the rules i can tell by her liver" and then wake up not having had the surgery.  That thought kept me strong.  Maybe that thought will help you?
