Post-oppers...need info re: cold and gas again
So I am almost 2 weeks out now. Have been taking the Gas-X strips for almost a week now and walking walking walking. Although I have released a bit of gas it is still not nearly enough. The pain when I breathe in/roll over/stand up/sit down etc. is almost excruciating. Is there anything else we can take besides the Gas-X?
Also did any of you experience a cold this early out and if so what are we allowed to take for that? I feel like crap right now.

Good Morning April,
Can't help you with the gas pain as I was one of the lucky ones. It seems strange to be in this much pain still. I am surprised the doctors can't do more for you.
I went to the walk in clinic on Tuesday and was told I have strep throat. I was given penicillin.
I had to explain and draw a picture for the doctor of how the duodenum was bypassed and the limited acid content to help the medication and I was really surprised how perplexed he was and how he couldn't tell me how the product was absorbed. I have since googled it and as RNY'ers I don't think we absorb it overly well. That being said, the symptoms of daggers in my throat, the fact that I can barely speak and the feeling of being hit by a bloody mac truck seem to be subsiding a little bit this morning. Not enough to go to work but enough to be able to swallow and not have my uvula completely sitting on my tongue. I know it isn't yeast but I feel like I could bake bread with all of crap at the back of my throat too. TMI,,, I know. I suppose I am feeling sorry for myself!!
Anyway, guess I switched this to being all about me. I really try not to do that.
The moral of the story is that if you go to a doctor or pharmacist, make sure they don't have their head up their ass.
Hope you feel better soon and aren't down for long.
TT

your local pharmacist can advise you. Just make sure you tell him about the NSAIDs, and that you can't have too much sugar. I'm sure they can help you. Make sure you get lots of water, that's the most important thing to do. My mother says colds last 7 days if you don't take any meds, and a week if you do. lol
