Hi everyone - I'm back from a wonderful vacation!
Got home yesterday at noonish. We had a wonderful holiday in Panama City Beach, Florida, with stops in Nashville and Memphis, as well as a side trip to New Orleans. We were very lucky with the drive down - the tornadoes ripped through where we had been only a few days before. Enjoyed the ride - we snacked in the car on hummus & veggies & crackers, beef jerky (I found some that had only 3g sugar), drank lots of water and it was nice to let my body regulate its natural rhythm. I find that at home I'm eating by the clock - breakfast, lunch at lunch time, dinner at 5:30 - and my body doesn't necessarily want that schedule. Driving I was able to eat when my body told me to.
We enjoyed walks on the beach almost every day, and did lots of touring around and walking around. Unfortunately, there was no serious exercise happening for me, although there was alot of walking in general. I was missing my little grandsons very much and was happy to finally hold them in my arms yesterday!
My jeans were practically falling off me, so I was anxious to get on the scale this morning, only to be dismayed to have stayed the same the last two weeks. Really thought that I had jumpstarted this s-l-o-w couple of months again, but alas, it is not to be. I just don't get it, and have to admit that it's getting me down now.
We ate very healthy the whole time, except for the one indulgence of oysters rockerfeller that I allowed myself. Otherwise it was grilled chicken, soups, yogurt, fresh Florida oranges & grapefruits when I could find them (imagine this, most of the citrus in Florida was from California!), and the most delicious Fage greek yogurt. I just don't understand why my body is holding onto this weight- it's getting very depressing.
But aside from my woes, we had a wonderful time. The condo had a beautiful view of the sunsets and was directly on the beach. The weather was nice - around 70 most days, but the air is still a little cool. Saturday was a rainy day, and I needed my fleece jacket so I didn't freeze! The only exception was New Orleans which was very hot and humid.
A funny thing happened to me there - in the morning I had the insides of a breakfast sandwich (egg and some of the sausage), then we walked to Cafe du Monde for coffee and beignets (I had 3 small bites only, less than 1/2 a beignet). On the way back to the hotel, I really started to feel unwell and dizzy, in fact, I actually had to steady myself at one point. It passed (I attributed it to the grease from the bit of sausage I had and the bit of beignet). Couple days later, I woke up with a dizzy feeling in the middle of the night - this happened twice, and both times I had had a glass of wine in the evening. I have had a little wine before with no problem, but these glasses were more regular-sized. I wonder if I'm developing an aversion to the sugars - haven't had problems with it except the first month or two after surgery. Will definitely be avoiding wine from now on.
So now I have March Break to recuperate! My eldest son informed is that he will be married on July 7, so I have to find a mother of the groom dress appropriate for a very small backyard wedding. Will be starting a more rigorous exercise program tomorrow in the hopes of moving my weight along. I'm down 92 pounds, and was really hoping to reach 100 very soon. I have a bunch of clinic appointments on April 2, and would really like to reach that goal, but based on the past couple of months, I'm not sure it'll happen. Hopefully they'll have some insight into my "problem." Anyway, glad to be back! Hope everything has been going well here on the board.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora. Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
Glad you're back. I was thinking about you yesterday - wondering how your vacation went.
Sounds like a good time
Congrats to your son. July isn't too far away. I bet you'll have LOTS more to choose from now that you're smaller. Just be sure to buy something closer to the date - you'll likely have to have it altered if you buy too early :D

RNY on 05/30/12
Hi,
Glad you had a great time, I was in new Orleans last month too, and we went to Cafe du Monde, I had a thumb size taste of the beignet, but keep in mind everything in that city is soaked with sugar and lard, nothing stayed in me all week.
I came home thinking I would lose, but alas stayed the same, but within a week I ended up losing 4 lbs. So hang in there it will happen, you have done so well!
