Umbilical Hernia Problem

A year ago when I had my pre-surgery scopes done, I became incredibly constipated and strained myself an umbilical hernia.  Have had no problems with it since.  However, the last few days it seems to be acting up.  If I bump the area, like on the bathroom counter, I get a short but sharp pain that feels like it's generating from behind the area, not from the hernia itself.  I did get those pains lower in the abdomen on the drive home from Florida, and have now developed a rotten head cold.  So I'm hoping the pain is not from the hernia, but instead is perhaps an intestinal bug or something as simple.  I know to get to emerg if the pain increases because these things can be serious, but I'm hoping it turns out to be nothing.  My Dr. is off for a few weeks due to the passing of his wife, but I see him in a little less than 3 weeks.

My blood pressure has been out of whack the last couple months and he's been monitoring it.  I saw another Dr. today in place of my own, and he told me that while gastric bypass patients may see a lowering in their blood pressure, it's not unusual if you have a family history of the problem for the bp to creep back up.  And mine certainly has to the point that I'm now worried.  He's added a second med to try to get it under control and tide me over until my own doc returns to work.  Will keep you posted.

PS, did a second Bodypump workout today and didn't die from it.  I love it, in fact!!!

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I've had an umbilical hernia repaired 3 times. Pre gastric bypass, again at the same time as my RNY (didn't know it had reoccurred) and again at the same time as my tummy tuck.
Mine popped my belly button out and I often had to pu**** back in. They told me if I couldn't pop it back in to go to emerg.
Be careful of doing any exercise that strains your abdominals.

I caught an infomercial in the middle of the night for "Les Mills Pump".  So I googled and found "Body Pump".  It's a weights workout using a barbell.  It's about 50 mins long and through it all you do about 800 different lifts, lunges, etc,, with 10 sessions each targeting different areas of your body.  The first session is the warmup, but I didn't realize that and when the instructor said "are you ready for the workout now?"  I thought you've got to be kidding me - you're trying to kill me!!  I was able to download a couple workouts onto my computer, bought a barbell and some 5 lb weights, but so far I'm only using the barbell.  It's not too difficult, but you really work the different areas of your body.  The program is actually intended as a group workout for gyms, but I'm using it at home all by my lonesome!  Hopefully this link will get you there  http://www.lesmills.com/global/bodypump/about-bodypump.aspx
I wonder if this has something to do with my hernia issue?
