8-months out Clinic Visit
After a false start yesterday, I had my 8-month plus a few days appointments at the bariatric centre today. Officially down 98 lbs. Shame on me, but I was a little disappointed that I didn't hit 100 - it's a milestone and I wanted it - have no choice but to be patient. With that in mind, we talked about how my body will find its own best weight, and that might be higher than I'd like or expect it to be. This would be a weight that I can maintain with little effort, I can indulge occasionally and not worry about gaining b/c my body will take care of me and keep me at this optimum spot. So I keep plugging onward and downward until my body finds that optimal level.
All my blood stats were excellent. My D was a tiny bit lower than it should have been, but nothing to be concerned about, and my B12 was higher than expected, which is good b/c at about a year, B12 has a tendency to drop. So other than those two things, everything was great there.
My BP had lowered to 130/82, but this is with the help of meds. Recently it had jumped to 180, then down to 150, and now 130. Looks like I have genetic high BP, not weight-induced high BP, so meds might be necessary for the long term. We'll see. Had a good chat with the social worker about body image, and she gave me some interesting reading to ponder.
So all in all, I'm doing well. Any loss from here on is considered gravy b/c at this point I've lost 67% of my excess weight (but I didn't ask what my excess weight was and I'm not a mathematician to figure it out!) Ideally, I'd really like to lose another 30-40 lbs.
Very close to 100 lbs lost in 8-ish months, so I don't have much to complain about! Life is definitely good!

That's wonderful news, Megan!
Yeah, it certainly sucks when our weight loss doesn't follow the schedule we've set out for it but I bet you'll be just as thrilled when you reach that particular milestone.
You're doing fabulously!!

Congrats on the 98 lbs. I have a body that just stopped when it was ready to stop so I get that part. I did everything to get a bit lower but my body just wouldn't let go of it. I was happy with where I was but would have liked to lose about 20 lbs more but there was no way in hell that was happening.
