RNY and seizures?

A friend of mine has been reading the main board and has read that studies are revealing a link to RNY'ers and seizure disorders years after surgery. This is freaking me out. Are we the new guinea pigs and will find out all of these possible complications years post op!
Any veterans able to answer and give their 2 cents?

I dont see how the two would connect? Can you give me links to these studies? I dont see how an operation done on your stomach would affect your brain, unless its something to do with the malabsorption of vitamins or something like that, in which case, it would be preventable with making sure you're vigilant about taking your supplements.

PS that main board can be kind of off the wall. I would take things with a grain of salt, that are posted there.

I"m sure this is the thread your friend is reading and for myself from reading it, I'd not be too worried.  MM has had seizures and she specifically says it is not WLS related.

Ya I would like to see the studies done and the reseach before I would even consider that. My aunt is 20 years out no seizures and my hubby 3.....

 It's not unheard of as Melting Mama has been very vocal about hers....but it is not common either..  I don't know of any in my support group and there are hundreds of members.

They could be due to:
-previously undetected issues
-neurological issues (b1 etc deficiencies)
-seizures brought on by undiagnosed hypoglycemia (blood sugar lows can lead to seizures).

Overall, pretty rare but such cases do exist.
