The last three weeks
Hey Everyone,
It has been a crazy journey over the past three or four weeks. My wife and moved back to Saskatchewan on 6 April. I accepted a job with Cameco working as a chemist at a Northern Saskatchewan mine site. The job is awesome and the people are great to work with.
On 4 April, I began to develop some stomach problems - vomitting and diarhrea. It was all I could do to drink my water. Even the supplements made me puke. I was sure that I have contacted norwalk or something like it.
When I got to Regina, I lasted two days before having to go to the hospital for rehydration. They gave me 3 bags of fluid and sent me home and told me to take liquid Imodium for the diarhrea. Imodium got me through the next 5 days.
We moved into my In-Laws basement and got our furniture and everything together. Then my old car blew a motor and we were forced to buy a new car. We bought a new Steel Grey Corolla - Yay!
I started my first 7 day shift at the mine site on 25 April. My daughter got my stomach flu and she was tested for stomach viruss. It turned out to be a virulent rotovirus. She got it far worse than I did. She had a fever, upper respiratory infection and intestinal problems. She has been the hospital for 3 days now and will likely get out tomorrow.
TWH has been draggin their feet transferring my file to my new family Dr. I can't get an appointment with the Bariatric team in Regina until they transfer my file. I will call them when I get back home on Thursday.
Summary of interesting facts:
80 pounds lost
head has shrunk and my ears stick out a long ways
I have saggy skin on my arms and legs - not a bad pannus yet.
my feet have not shrunk yet.
THE FOAMIES SUCK BAD - Lesson learned - Eat less and more slowly.
I don't have high blood pressure anymore
My sleep apnea is worse - I have aerophagia bad and my stomach and gust are often full of air in the morning.
Gout attacks suck more without advil
I feel much better
I can climb stairs without getting winded
I can walk to work now
I am getting cold for the first time in years - I use blankets on the bed.
I am grateful my mother-in-law is a doctor
I love my wife more than ever because she is taking care of our hosptalized 2 year old while i am up north working
For the first time in years, i love my job.
Eating at a buffet is easy, if you are careful
Thanks everyone for your support and i'll write again soon.
