Life is just so different now
Hi everyone, just wanted to come and say hello to everyone. Life is just so fantastic now. Since my RNY I have been busy busy busy trying new/old things and just enjoying living. As of this past Friday I have lost a total of 140 lbs. I still cannot believe it. I am now more than haflway to my goal that the hospital set for me. I really do feel like a brand new person.
My biggest NSV to date happened Sunday May 6 when I completed my first ever walk-a-thon. I participated in the Hike for Hospice in Cornwall in honour of my cousin Eugene who passed away this past November. It was somewhere between 4 and 5 miles that we walked and I only had to stop 4 times for a short dehydration break. It felt SO fantastic and our team raised $1,800 for a good cause!
There have been many many many other NSVs, daily life in itself is an nsv. Another biggie for me tho was fitting into a pair of denim capris. I have not worn denim since before my second son was born, over 25 years ago. I mean they are tight, but they are size 22 denim and I can get them on and zippered!!!
I also went backstage this past Saturday to meet Johnny Reid once again. I haven't been to see him since Nov 2010. My friends convinced me to bring my pic from that meet and greet and tell him my story. After much prodding I went ahead and did it. He was so very sincere in his best wishes for me. I got 3 kisses and 3 hugs out of the deal. Pretty good score lol.
My other big news is that I feel I am finally feel that I am now physically capable of taking a bus to work if I have to. With this freedom comes my first attempt at trying for a new job. I submitted an application last week to become a full-time administrator at a different school. Don't get me wrong, I LUV my job, my coworkers and especially the kids and I would miss them terribly, but right now I am a half time assistant and my dream both financially and career wise is to be a full-time admin in charge of my own office. I will definitely keep you posted.
The things I am now looking forward to is jumping off the dock hand in hand with my two nieces this summer during our cottage vacation and climbing to the top of Signal Hill in Newfoundland this August to stare out at the ocean.
Six months ago I would have laughed my @ss off if people told me that these things would be possible..now I fimly believe ANYTHING is possible.
I want to wish those that are still waiting their turn and those that just had their the best of luck in your journey. I truly hope it is every bit as joyous as mine has been this far.
BTW...I have added a few more pics to my photos if anyone is interested, including the before and after Johnny Reid shot.
Take care all. I hope to be back soon.
