Oh my, I have a pain

It started last evening and it's still there.  It's my right side - if I put my hands on my waist at the top of my hip bones, its the whole area you can grab.  It the back it goes almost to my spine, and it sometimes radiates around the front close to my navel.  It hurts to take a deep breath - I feel that more in the front right. Kind of feels like the stitch in the side I used to get when I was a kid, from running too hard.  I'm thinking I must have wrenched myself somehow.

Sorry for the whine - I can't find my tylenol, so I had no other choice!!

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

you should call your wls centre in the am, if its still continuing.

The dr told me that pain around the navel  can sometimes indicate a bowel obstruction. Are you passing gass? constipated or diarrhea? if not passing gas, no bm, or if you have watery diarrhea, please get to a hospital..

or, do you have your gall bladder sitll? if yes, it could be gb pain.

It sounds like it's probably muscular, but there are so many things in that area it could be - even appendicitis pain can start near the navel! If it doesn't go away soon or it gets worse, do get it checked out and let us know what you discover.
I had OHIP approved Duodenal Switch surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton on March 7th, 2012. Want more information on the DS in Ontario? Send me a private message!

Morning, all, and thanks for your concern. Didn't have the greatest sleep, but I did sleep some.  Still have the same pain, no better no worse.  If it gets any worse through the day I'll call the centre, otherwise I see my GP for my BP on Monday morning.

I didn't even consider gallbladder b/c it's not the really bad pain that I associate with it.  It doesn't seem to be triggered by anything I eat, it's just constantly there, and worse if I take a deep breath.  I think I might email Vivian this morning to see what she says.  Will keep you posted.
