Winter coat size too big, who would have thought it

I have 2 beautiful winter coats, size 2x that a wonderful friend passed to me after they outgrew her. I was sure they would fit me this winter as I was taking a 6x last year. Well, unreal thought for me but I tried them on yesterday and they are too loose. Another NSV that I can't believe. I am thinking I need a 1x...if anyone has any to sell cheap or possibly trade at this month's meeting in Ottawa, I would be happy to discuss.

That's awesome! 3 of my coats are too big too.  Too bad Kitchener and Ottawa are so far apart, or I'd be all over that coat! Congrats on the nsv!

I can only imagine what a FANTASTIC feeling that must be.  I remember one previous weight loss when I did a silent happy dance in a change room cause I was so excited that I was down way more then I thought.  Those NSV do hit home much more then the numbers on the scale sometimes!  Way to go and keep up the good work!  I'll be joining you shortly!

Two thoughts here...

1. Are you only 1 size down from that or MORE?

2. If it is only 1 size... Have you considered a tailor. 25$ can sometimes take a jacket in up to 2 sizes. If it is not going to go to a "good home" then why not make it work for you. Just a thought...

I ask because when I bought my current one (3xl) I had the waist taken in 7 inches (could have gone 9 but it would have changed the line of the coat), and the hips 5 inches... I can still take that same coat in and get it tailored within a day to be smaller overall if I need to... Shoulders are already sitting too low, and I have more room in it but I am figuring I will ride it out till it is too bad.
