Anyone cheat on Opti...I am at 8 days now...10 to go, it is not bad but Opti is so gross. I heard alot of others say they were allowed things that I am not allowed...seems like every hospital is different. Can you lovely friends give me a run down of what you were allowed threw your hospital.

Cheers!

Try hard, stay focused. Don't cheat.

Remember the reason your doing Opti, not a diet but so the surgeon can SAFELY move your liver aside so he can operate on you. for a major organ changing operation.  My thought process was that too many cheats ad excuses is what got me to the unhappy and unhealthy place i was in.  I wanted out, and cheating was not a path I wanted to go down.  This is not a time to cheat.

Sorry, I feel strongly about it. The road after is not all smooth, be strong for the long haul.

I agree. I have not cheated and I am not going to but again, I more want to know what people were allowed on their pre op diet as all the hospitals seem to be different.

Well said Barb!!

I also went thru TWH and followed exactly what they said! I was mooooore then ready for this new life style! I was sick and tired of being unhealthy and big, not being able to live my life to it's fullest!

Hynesj85, are you ready for this?? I ask because from posts that I have read thru, I don't think you are completely ready for this new life style change.

If you fall off the wagon, it's not as simple as a 5dpt... you have to follow everything that Mary, Katie or Lorraine has told you in the nut classes and the one on one sessions. Have you talked to Jairo about some of probable issues?

Read all your paperwork! Follow alllll the rules! If there is an issue that is what our team is here for, as well as the longtime vets here. We have all been thru this life change and I can say, I would NEVER turn back the clock!

Good luck!

I was allowed broth and jello. Enjoyed the broth and only had jello once.  I did really like the opti and loved not having to think about food after years and years of only thinking about it.

the prize is coming.

Have you lost anything?

Yeah, I lost 10lbs since starting. I don't mind the Opti but it is driving me nuts to only be allowed sweet things except broth. I am more of a savory person so having so much sweet is driving me nuts.

I understand, it can be a challenge someday's, but I can honestly say in the 6 weeks I was on optifast, I didnt cheat, even cooking a huge Thanksgiving Dinner.  When the doctor told me l had to be on optifast for 6 weeks, I questioned if I would be able to do it or not, but it was part of my journey before surgery and my options were limited. I was only allowed, crystal light, herbal teas, water, and chicken or beef broth.  Hang in there, your half way there!!

I wish you all the best on your journey :-)

Oh my...why did you have to do Opti for so long? You are truly my idol....I don't think I can do it for longer then the 2.5 weeks I have to already.

Perhaps its best not to know so that you're not tempted to go against what your surgeon has advised you to do?

There's a quote I posted earlier by Kenneth H. Blanchard:

“There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.”

This is a little something for everyone to think about from time to time whether they be pre-op, post-op or vets and it can apply to anything in one's life.  Its important for everyone to ask themselves if they're interested in losing weight or are they committed to losing weight?    Either way, the result is entirely in your hands.

Hang in there hynesj85!
