Ok so surgery was Mon I got home late yesterday it wasn't easy. I had some complications. I stopped breathin on them on recovery few times and almost ended up on a ventilator. My white bloodcount went very high and my potassium dropped very low.

Now my question, this may be TMI but..now I have diarrhea and there is bright red blood in it. I don't want to call the surgeon as I don't want to go back. We don't live close to the hospital and as everyone knows hospitals are great when your sick but once you spring them its hard o get us back in..or me at least. I don't have an appetite at all, but I plug away at my food. Can anyone tell me should I be calling the Drs and should I be a little more concerned. I am scared but I just want to make sure that nothing bad is going on.

Thank you everyone

Hello ~ I am not a DR, but I know that blood in your stool for a normal person (person that just didn't have surgery) is a possible sign of something very wrong. I would call the surgeon...at least call and see what they say. I would not ignore this and "see" if it goes away on its own. Just my thoughts anyhow...better to be safe then sorry.

Sending positive thoughts!

As a registered nurse & a 3 month vet. My advice is to either get your butt to your center. This definitely needs to be addressed.

This is one of the reasons why Humber want you to stay within an hour of the hospital. Go get looked at....why even question it? Sorry but sounds pretty serious to me.

I agree.  When I had my 20 hr bout of vomiting I too had blood in it but it was dark, which I was told by doctors was old.  Bright blood is new blood.  I wouldn't chance it at all.  I know it sucks but you should really be seen especially with all your issues, I'd hate to see something else happen to you.  Take care!

Yes, get to HRRH now. I was in a week as I had a leak, and had blood as well. Very very serious. I had four blood transfusions and they were preparing me to go back in to find the leak if my blood count didn't improve.

Please, don't wait, call your surgeon and get checked out.
