Hi Amy.... I can see where you are coming from but you need to think about your health at this point....WLS is only a tool, you still have work to do and no one ever said it would be easy that is for sure. My son is developing a program for me to tone, he said that this is important for anyone losing weight, I am especially concerned about the "bat wings" but there are exercises you can do to help....if you are concerned you might want to check out an exercise program with a personal trainer who can go through different stretches and exercises with you. Luckily my son is a kinesiologist and has studied this a great deal....having the knowledge of how to go about something is empowering.... at 48 I still consider myself beautiful, perhaps more on the inside, but the outside is gonna get more beautifuller (not a word I know ) but that is secondary to good health. Best of luck, Sue

Well, Thank you to everyone. I hope I didn't come off as being vein, and as though I want surgery for cosmetic purposes, because I don't. I want to be heathy and regain control of my life. I want to be able to play ball with my son and ride roller coasters with him again. I was just very worried about the skin being uncontrolable and not being able to afford having that fixed if it was an inevitability. I am however willing to work my buns off to keep the skin as toned as I can. So Thanks for all the info, Take care and talk to you all soon.

Depending on your how much trouble you get from the hanging skin (ie: rashes, sores), you can probably qualify for a panniculemy (sp?) which removes the excess skin from the abdomen. This tends to lift some of the pubic and thigh skin. You would have to cover the cost of having tummy muscles tightened if you wanted that done. As for breast reduction and lift, again, depends on how large you are and what kind of problems you get with having the excess weight on your chest. If you are able to get coverage for a reduction, the lifting is automatic. I know I would qualify for a breast reduction/lift right now and figure I'll definately qualify for the panniculemy afterwards. Thankfully, my arms and thighs aren't too bad as I carry most of my weight in my abdomen. So I might just have to put out the $$$ for the muscle tightening (tummy tuck). Good luck with your toning exercises! If you get some good ones, post them so we can try them out!
