liquid diet
You have to ask yourself - is it your body that wants to eat or your head? The answer more than likely will be your head. You had to take a moment and tune into your body and see if its telling you it needs to eat. If you are allowed to chew gum you may want to try that - I found I missed having something to chew more than having something to eat during the liquid phase. You also have to remind yourself your body is still healing from major surgery and cant handle solids right now!
I'm pre-op, don't know if this will help, but right now I am trying self-hypnosis to avoid gaining any more weight right now. I'm planning on going to a professional hypnotherapist in a few weeks to help with diet and also stress, but til then I'm using a CD. So far it is helping me have a more positive attitude and distinguish between head hunger and real hunger. Though you won't find one for WLS patients on liquids, the basic principles could help, as well as helping you with any emotional eating or other problems you may have with food.
I'm looking at hypnosis as another tool, which will help me even more when I add the tool of WLS. Because I know, for me, the head hunger and emotional eating will still be there when I get home from the hospital!
Scary thought!
I chose The Self-Hypnosis Diet, by the way. It seemed more common-sense and less new-agey, because I'm not at all into that. Hypnosis can be done many different ways.
Anyway, I've blabbered enough, lol. Don't know if this will help, but I hope it does.
By the way, it's also helping me feel more relaxed and happy, and more patient with my kids!
