I had some sunflower kernals awhile ago and they are stuck, I know I have read on here which side we should lay on to help the stomach digest.  Feeling miserable!

i lay back in a recliner for a while - but not flat because you want it to move down.

I've heard the left side but honestly I find the most relief when I hunch forward...

Looks like we are all different.  It hurts so much when I hunch forward so I stretch out as much as I can (sitting up that is).  The recliner is great for leaning back a little and stretching out.  Mine normally pass pretty quick when I do that

I recently had a stuck problem that lasted longer than a few hours.    My surgeon's office suggested small sips of warm water (as warm as you are comfortable with).  The warm water tends to relax the stoma.

Good luck.

small sips of warm liquid and walking it out is what I have been told.  A friend told me that stretching helps her.  I hate to say it but if all else fails maybe hurling might help.  (bad practice but if nothing else works).  If it does not pass in 5 hours then I would call the hospital or the surgeons answering service to say you need guidance.  (do not call 911 to just ask a question).

I was also told about walking around.  It is funny how many different things we have been told, though.

As a person that teaches anatomy and physiology, I do know that lying on your left side is good for lowering your blood pressure, and lying on your right side is good for helping digestion along and for helping with acid reflux.

I hope that you have good results and good luck!

Thank you for all the quick replies, after about two hours I did "hurl" and felt much better!  Now I know to stay away from Sunflower kernels!

Oh you want my chicken dance, do ya? LOL  I say that because chicken is my nemesis and gets stuck every.single.time! So for stuck protein........
1. eat 10 papaya enzymes.
2. Hunch over in squat position (if I try and lay down or just sit or walk, it just makes it worse for me)
Drool copiously and be miserable for at least half an hour until the protein breaks down.

Next method,
stick finger down throat and try to hurl it. This has never ever worked for me. I'm not a very good puker since surgery.

Good luck in the future. You can still have those sf kernals. You just need to make sure you chew chew chew the heck outta them.
