Almost there.....

Approval for the surgery has been submitted to Tricare for the surgery with an approximate 6 Sept. surgery date.  One more clearence for surgeon, pulminary.  I don't expect any problem there.

It hasn't been a long process compared to what others have experienced.  I started to process in June with my old PCM.  His staff botched the referral process so bad I had to find another PCM.  I had a civilain PCM.  Since I am retired military, I got a new PCM at the local Navy Hospital.  They have been super in referring me to the different specialists for my clearances without ANY issue at all.  They also do bariatric surgery at the Naval hospital.  So if Tricare balks for any reason, I can get the surgery at the navy base without Tricare being in the approval process.  I think the process of getting the surgery will soon be done.

I have appreciated everyone's candid advice to others based on thier own experience and journey. Lots of great info.  Like President Reagon used to say " Trust but verify"  The q & a in the forum armed me with the questions to ask during the process.  Sometimes the answer is different but close to what is said here.  I attribute the differences to the surgeons experience and your individual experiences.

Thanks all for your sharing and information.  Soon I will need two spots ( big butt)on the losers bench.

Well, you won't need two spots for long.  Your butt is gonna be shrinking soon!  Sept 6 is right around the corner.

Congratulations on the submission for approval. I didn't have any issues with approval and I'm considered a lightweight (meaning I don't have that much to lose.) Hope things go smoothly, but I have heard that the Naval Hospital will do the sleeve, if that is what you are really wanting. I'm jealous, my surgery isn't until September 20th, yours will be here before you know it. Good luck with the rest of your journey!
