Vitamins that can be swallowed????????

I know this topic has been brought up many times but I searched and couldn't find anything.  Are we able to absorb vitamins that are swallowed?  If so, what brand?  I currently take the Opurity chewable, one a day.  I have to chop it in two and take it at different times during the day.  I gag on this.  Now that I am able to swallow all my other meds I was hoping I could do that for a vitamin.  Originally I was taking Bariatric Advantage but they contain sorbitol which was upsetting my stomach and Opurity was the only one I found that didn't.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Opurity is what I took as well early on, and yes I gagged after awhile.  They just got gross. I take a generic centrum vitamin and those seem to be fine for me.  I think there are a few others on here who take them as well.

Thanks.  How many do you take a day?

I take two multi's a day.  I also take additional calcium, iron, B12 and Vit D.  The centrum multi's won't replace the Opurity completely so make sure you get enough of all the vitamins you need.

Two Centrum multis will replace the Opurity.  Opurity doesn't contain calcium citrate or the other things we need.  It's just a multi.

I've had RNY and have been swallowing tablet vitamins since very soon after surgery.  My lab work has been pretty good, so I can only assume that I am absorbing them as expected.  I take a generic multivitamin, generic Citracal Max, Ferretts ferrous fumarate and liquid B-Complex.

I have never had to crush a pill or use chewables.  I was swallowing whole pills (meds and vitamins) from day one with no problems.

I've also been swallowing pills since the day after surgery. Sometimes, I gag, which is LOVELY, but mostly, they go down with no issues.

Yes, according to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, we absorb vitamins we swallow just fine (with the exception of B12, which must be a sublingual, nasal spray or injection).

You can absorb just about any brand.  However, you should look for a brand with 100% of the RDA of most things, including minerals like copper and selenium, as recommended by the ASMBS.  Then take two a day.

I use a generic equivalent to Centrum.

I assume you're just asking about a multivitamin? But you are also taking calcium citrate, iron and B12, right?

I take a multi - chewable, 2 calciums - chewable.  No iron since no period and the other is included in my multi.
