Good morning folks! You made it to the weekend!

I thought that I'd get things started this morning while I drink my coffee before going to work out with my trainer this morning.

Yesterday was a long and stressful day for us. Lots of driving and hurry up and wait. 2 1/2 hours at the neurologist's office, an hour at the lab for bloodwork, a hurried lunch at Panera (turkey chili...yum!) then 3 1/2 hours at the ophthalmologist's office. All on very little sleep! The good news is that DW's EEG was pretty normal and she shows no significant signs of her retina detaching. Still a very LONG day to find that out.

Today is off to work with the trainer for an hour, then the weekly trip to Trader Joe's, a stop at the thrift store and a couple of other stops. I'd like to get some baking done this afternoon and bag up some leaves in the yard, but we'll see what actually gets done. Later we may go to a Winter's Eve celebration at our favorite historical farm. I love going, but it is really cold...no snow or rain though!

Menu:

Mornin weekenders!!

Well my surgery was canceled minutes before I thought I'd be wheeled into the OR. The surgeon broke or sprained his wrist the night before (I can't remember which - my mind was going crazy with shock and everything I had to do - cancel the rest of the hotel reservation, contact the boarding place re: the one cat we'd boarded and arrange to have a friend go pick him up, etc).

He said if I really wanted to go through with it yesterday he would, but (I thought..) how the heck was he going to operate with one hand? I'm guessing he'd have one of his residents do it (It's a teaching hospital), but after paying top dollar for a specialist with years of experience, I wanted HIM to do it. He said he could probably do it next Friday and his nurse would contact me Monday for rescheduling, but I'm not sure his hand is going to be healed enough that soon. And I'm a little leery of scheduling in Jan or Feb because the weather is so unpredictable, and I don't want this to happen again. So maybe the spring. I'll see what his nurse says when she calls on Monday, though. What A huge disappointment. He did offer to pay my hotel bill, but I deflected. It's not his fault. It'd be nice if the university knocked a couple hundred bucks of my bill though - of course they're not obligated to, but it would be a nice gesture. As it is, I'm out over $300 for hotel costs, pet boarding, etc.

So we're still in Chicago, headed home today. The hotel manager was nice enough to let me cancel tonight and tomorrow night with no penalty (ordinarily they have a 48- hour cancellation policy). We're meeting my cousin out in the burbs for lunch and then drive back home.

3.5 years out

B: in the hotel. Probably Greek yogurt with fruit or nuts, coffee with half and half

S : protein shake

L: something protein forward

D: I'm thinking emiepies egg salad in a flat out wrap

Oh Trish! I'm so sorry to read this. Of course given the cir****tances you were right to reschedule, but what a letdown! It takes so much energy, focus, and forethought to arrange and pump ourselves up for such a life-changing event, and then to have it simply fizzle must be very disappointing. Oh well! I hope you are given some financial break in acknowledgment of the inconvenience, but of course you want and need your surgeon to be at his best. Hugs to you!

Sounds like you both had hard days yesterday. I'm so sorry. It would be a bummer to be ready for surgery and then have it be a no go. I agree though I'd wait til the actual expert could do it. After all you deserve to have the best results possible. Its miserably cold here in Illinois so Lily and I haven't headed out yet but we will do 4 miles at some point with many layers of clothing. Accountability was good yesterday and weight is 126.2 today. Heres the food plan B 2/3 c mighty maple earnest eats hot cereal L 2 slices turkey 1 slice cheese 3 grape tomatoes D 4 oz chicken 1/4 c winter mix veggies S sm apple 1 T peanut butter. And lots of coffee. Have a great day everyone and enjoy your weekend.

Good Saturday morning! Bubs woke me up super early this morning. He lays on me most of the night anyway but starts walking on me and meow/howling when he's waited long enough for breakfast. He is so spoiled! Our pups are so sweet and all three wait patiently as long as it takes for us to get up - then they get super excited like kids on Christmas morning. Today we are taking the pups to the park, dropping of Robs car at the dealership, Starbucks, some errands, more Dyson (new attachments to play with -wee!), then carpet cleaning and having my nephew over for dinner to say farewell before he moves to Florida.

Accountability - good!

Current goal is to stay in the 150's through the holidays (just being realistic)

2 years out - 158.7

b- coffee x 2, SB's latte

l-Jimmy Dean eggwich

d- homemade beef/pork meatballs roasted then simmered in all day sauce - OMG

es-frozen L&F Greek yogurt

cals a bit high today - I may switch out the eggwich for eggbeaters and/or latte for reg coffee at SB's but I really don't want to!

v/l on track

e - 2 mile walk with the pups

Have an awesome day!!

Good morning, everybody! I am back from Los Angeles. It sounds like quite a lot of vacuuming took place while I was gone. Los Angeles was nice but not as warm as I had hoped. I felt a chill every time that the hotel door opened in the lobby. Thursday night we went to Craft, the restaurant owned by Tom Colicchio, the host of Top Chef. We watched Top Chef for many years so it was fun to go to his restaurant. The food was good, but probably not as good as it would have tasted pre-surgery.

Tonight we are going to a Holiday Party at the Field museum. It's a great location for a large event with the dinosaur fossils and some the exhibits open during the party. I'm looking forward to going.

Breakfast: Boiled eggs, ham

Snack: light and fit

Lunch: Mahi burger (also going to Trader Joe's today)

Snack: Protein bar

Dinner: Holiday party but protein forward

Have a great weekend, all.

I love parties at venues like that! Have a wonderful time!

I was at an afternoon party once which commandeered the Central Park zoo, replete with clowns, jugglers, people on stilts, magicians, face painters, mimes, etc. It was very elaborate! My table was right next to the seals. Another party I attended took place at Bergdorf Goodman's - the entire store just closed for the event. That was interesting. And once I was at a party, also in NYC, which took place at the Forbes building. Though the atmosphere was oddly dark for a party, there were real Faberge eggs on display in lit niches around the room. That collection was purchased in its entirety by a Russian buyer and returned to Russia a few year after that event. I'm glad I had the opportunity to see them. I always hoped to attend a party at The Metropolitan Museum of Art - I really miss going there, especially at Christmas to see that magnificent tree full of angels - or at the Natural History Museum. But at least I got to enjoy those and other fine museums many, many times through the years, though never as glamorously as during a holiday party!
