Follow what your surgeon ask of you. Make sure your getting in all your water + so it becomes habit. Ask your surgeon if you can incorporate fiber in your diet before your surgery. This is one thing I wish I did. Enjoy the ride. You got this!

I am 2 weeks post-op and I can tell you now it is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. The best advice I could give you is make sure you're following all your pre-op instructions and then after the surgery take the time to follow all the dietary steps you were giving. It gets a little boring on the pallet but it gets your stomach ready slowly so you suffer less consequences from what you eat. And everyone will tell you drink your fluids they are very important and will help your stomach immensely and on a side note when they stay small pills or crushed pills and very well chew food they are not kidding so just keep that in mind. Congratulations on taking the steps to your new better you, you got this and remember it will hurt after the surgery but it goes away within a few days.

Get your post surgery instructions and understand them before surgery - it's a good time to ask questions. If you have to do a pre surgery behavioral program, commit to it - it does help! If you haven't already, start cutting out soda, wine, etc.

I am restricting myself already to many things and I dont drink soda or juices so no issue there, No breads or fruits now, Im doing a lot of liquids and I have a lung issue so water is a must so that is a plus. thank you. Ill ask about fiber.

Read here, a lot. Pick someone who has succeeded for a long time and follow what the say to others.

Start changing things now that you will HAVE to change after surgery. It's easier now than it will be when you have no choice. For example, no drinking with meals or 30 minutes after. It's much harder than it seems for most of us.

The single best thing you can do after surgery is start a food log on something like MyFitnessPal. Weigh and record every bite. Knowing exactly what you are taking in makes everything else easier.
