Sorry guys...hate to be that negative post that has everything going wrong for them....:just had RNY 4 days ago

i suffer from gout, but haven't had an attack in over a year.....don't know what is causing my toe to flare up but feel an attack coming...on top of my other surgery issues, a full blown gout attack will be extremely painful.

i could be dehydrated, maybe the change in diet.

Anyone else have this issue? Is it okay to take indomethacin?

thanks guys

Very common to get gout after surgery. Contact your surgeon they be able to instruct you on what to take. They may need to tweak your medications if they are time released.

indomethacin is an nsaid, a type of medication that cannot be taken after RNY. Serious complications can happen to the 'stapled/sutured' together parts...if it were me, I would NOT take it.

Call your surgeon and your primary care doc and express these important concerns.

Hope you feel better soon, keep sipping liquids.

Definitely contact your Doctor, but I took Colchicine. I have heard that as you lose weight, the stored up Uric acid in your body releases. In the longer term surgery usually helps with gout and did for me.

Check with your surgeon or their nurse and make sure it's okay to take the medication! I'm having so many issues I'm still learning myself so I'm wearing the nurse out by calling with my questions
