I was instructed not to drink soda - ever - but some people on here were allowed to once their insides are healed. I don't think there's any surgeon that will allow it during the first few months post-op since your stomach is healing, but after that, some are OK with it as long as the carbonation doesn't bother their stomach. Carbonation DOES bother MY stomach, so I stay away.

I just read some of your other posts and noticed you're very early out. So no - no soda for you!

My boyfriend also had surgery, and he drinks gallons of Diet Coke a day. But I can only handle a few sips from his cup before it makes me feel very uncomfortable. I definitely wouldn't try it early out.

Carbonation made me super uncomfortable for around my whole first year, but now I can tolerate it in small amounts if I really want to. But after so long without fizzy drinks, I don't really desire it much.

I do have an occasional cherry Coke Zero, but a 20 oz bottle usually ends up in the fridge for "later" and I never fini**** "later" lol.

Thx for the replies! I was curious! I thought it would settle my stomach down. I'm not a soda drinker so that won't be a problem I would treat myself ever now and then to a rootbear but I guess maybe that will be a treat somewhere way down the road. Thx for the feedback!??

This early out it's a great time to start learning to not think of food as a treat. Don't me wrong, I still really enjoy food and I look forward to meals but I don't treat food as a reward (or a punishment) any more.

I agree 100 percent! I've never looked at it emotionally like that, but I'll be careful to pay attention to why I'm craving certain things and if they are related to my emotions

My root beer craving is satisfied by AW root beer sugar free powder. Like crystal light stick. It's great.
