Pouch size and portions

Is it normal after two months for your stomach to be able to handle slightly more food? I'm not overeating or anything but I find I can eat more than when I started if I want to. Currently I can finish an egg, half a can of tuna and a half cup of vegetables.

You can eat more as the swelling goes down. The pouch does expand and I think reaches its full size at about a year after surgery. I am twelve years out and can eat almost as much as I did before surgery. Because I can does not mean I should.

Yes, most people are able to eat a bit more food once they are all healed up.

Do you eat one egg plus the tuna plus the veggies in one sitting? That seems like a LOT more than most folks here could tolerate.

Hi there! After 2 months, you can certainly eat more than immediately after. After six years (my unfortunate status) you are almost back to normal portion sizes. That's why now (2 months post-op) it's super important for you to be weighting your meals and eating small portions. It gets harder and harder as time goes by! If what you posted above is one meal, I would recommend scaling back and making a goal of a daily 500-600 calories at only six months out. Good luck!

Stop. Just stop. Weigh and measure your food. Don't cram so much in there. That amount of food is way more than you should be eating.

Weigh and measure. Don't eyeball. Don't guess. Don't eat until you are full. Don't eat until you are satisfied. Weigh and measure.

I am not gorging on food and do not want to create that impression. All I've noticed is my stomach capacity is slightly larger than it was a month ago. Although Perhaps I do need to pay closer attention to my portion sizes just to be on the safe side.

For 2 months postop, an egg, half a can of tuna and a half cup of vegetables is absolutely gorging.

You are missing Grim's point. Gorging no, but too much - yes. At 2 months out my program was at total meal volume at 0.5 cups. Total including veg, etc. At six months 3/4 cup and at 1 year a Cup. Then slowly progressing to 1 to 2 cups after maintenance. You are too far ahead of the curve. That's his point.

My program guide states to measure but not weigh; however, even with that, at 2 months out that definitely sounds way too much, especially when you include denser protein. (I know that I can eat more slider foods than dense protein but I also know that is a bad idea, for example.)
