I am scheduled for surgery on 10/21 and have several health issues that have been the primary reason for my decision. I am hoping mine will go away but was wondering how many here had them and no longer do since they had surgery.
I was on high blood pressure meds, insulin shots 5 times a day and metformin for type 2 diabetes.
I'm no longer on those esp since the revision I had. WLS isn't a guarantee to solve these but it worked for me. It hasn't been easy but I do not, I repeat, do NOT miss those 5 shots a day.
I got pretty sick before my revision and ate what I could keep down. I still had to take metformin before my revision. RNY has a greater success rate with type 2 diabetes from what I've read.
No more High Blood Pressure meds, pain in my joints has changed drastically, no high cholesterol, Triglycerides, blood work is all normal, No longer have sleep apenea or am pre-diabetic. I was taking acid reflux meds and no longer taking those, hiatal hernia fixed.
I no longer have Fatty liver, Sleep Apnea, or Afib. I had no other obesity related illness. However my knees say thank you every day. Good luck with your journey.
