Happy Black Friday, everyone! Hope you all had lovely Thanksgivings!

Our was very different than anything I have ever experienced but I have no complaints. Grim and I had a nice quiet day together and then we sat down to a "formal" dinner, with just us. Pics below! Then we had a really nice Zoom meet up with all of my family. It was great!

Also, yesterday morning, Grim's daughter came over and surprised us with a big pan of Peanut Butter Fudge! It was nice to visit with her (masked and in the garage) for a little bit... and oooooh the fudge was amazing. Hot tip--a square of fudge has fewer calories than 2 eggs (lol), so I skipped a healthy breakfast and swapped it for fudge, and managed to end the day under 1100 calories!!! I mean, my macros were terrible, but I was excited to be able to stay relatively in track on a big holiday.

QOTD: Getting any good Black Friday deals? My Christmas shopping is 99% done already but I have been keeping my eye out for any exceptional deals, so please tell me what you have seen out there :)

Happy Friday! The zipline I like is doing 50% off gift cards, that's really all I've seen from a deal perspective. I'm planning on taking my local niece and nephew as their Christmas present so that's exciting for me!

thanksgivjng was good but very low key. I cooked, we watched Rogue One and Hamilton and played a board game Azul that I loved and I walked a 5k first thing in the morning so it was a good day.

today is all about leftovers....that might be the routine for the weekend.

turkey, cheesy corn, roasted butternut squash and pumpkin pudding along with coffee.

my pictures are from my trip to the Paint mines last weekend. It's about 2 hours southeast of Denver very much in the middle of nowhere. They've seen signs of human utilization going back 9,000 years and they used to harvest the rock flakes and make different color dyes so it's pretty neat. It was really cold, I wore my mask to keep my nose warm and camouflaged myself among the rocks, lol.

have a great Friday!

hi all- thanksgiving was a non event just lots of relaxing. I made breakfast for me- it was blueberry protein waffles. then watched tv until DH got up. made him cinnabon in the waffle maker to speed up the process- it was so easy. we ate and watched a quiet place, then subscribed to Disney so we could start Mandalorian.

I made turkey breast, heated my moms stuffing which I ate too much of, sweet potato with Splenda which I also at too much of and deviled eggs. then a new med made me nauseous so I ate two 35 cal breads before bed with peanut butter. not really sure it helped probably should have just gone to bed. all the remaining stuffing is now safe in the freezer from my food trap. the sweet potato are still in fridge so I need to handle that today by not putting it in my mouth and in freezer.

QORD: I did buy a new laptop last night- the existing was so crappy. I did realize after the fact that it is 14 inch so will have to adjust but its super light and BLUE!!! I've bought NOTHING

I stick all kind of stuff in my waffle maker just to see what will happen. I especially love to stick my leftover stuffing in there then after the stuffing waffle comes out I load it with the rest of the leftovers like Turkey mashed potatoes corn and smother it with gravy. It is so good. I did not want to go off the rails 2 days in a row so I ate that last night before I went to bed so I could reign it back in today.

Happy day after American Thanksgiving all!

It was a very strange Thanksgiving at our house. Part of me was really depressed that I couldn't really have the "traditional" Thanksgiving fare, but I was able to have some very mashed sweet potatoes with egg whites. Not turkey and stuffing but I'm grateful that I'm able to eat some food again. This really feels like being early post-op again, figuring out what agrees with my stomach and definitely what to stay away from. There's alot of trial and error. And trying to figure out how to eat small, frequent meals and to still get in my fluids. At least I have some experience with this....

I set up a Zoomsgiving for my family. Half of us refused to meet in person because of Covid, and the other half (who still think that Covid is a liberal creation!) met a week ago in a restaurant. We did manage to chat and be civil, but not being in the same room probably was a big part of that. Honestly, I'd not be adverse to continuing this tradition for the long term, but we'll see.

My anticipated menu for today:

Egg whites, mashed sweet potatoes, a small pouch of salmon, grits, LF yogurt, applesauce and a popsicle

Exercise: I'm still walking with a walker because I get really dizzy, but I'm going to try some gentle chair exercises. I REALLY wish that our local indoor pool was open. I know how wonderful being in the water was even before my surgery.

QOTD: For the most part, this will be a gift card holiday. It's too difficult to ship things, but I might order some things online and have them delivered to the recipients. In the past, I often gave handmade gifts, fruit baskets and sweets, but since I'm not planning to see anyone, that won't work...oh well. I have chosen several food banks and a homeless shelter for women and children that I will make some donations to. So many people in our area are in real need, and I'd like to help them feel special.

Sorry no new photos today, but sending lots of virtual hugs to everyone!

Janet

Before the election I was joking that I might vote for Trump because if the pandemic ever ends I might have to go back to commuting and host big dinners again! Haha, apparently I am transitioning to the life of a hermit nicely. (I promise I voted responsibly, though!).
