Good morning! Yesterday was a successful first day of school! Thanks for the good wishes. I read 419 pages in my law book which was simultaneously incredibly interesting and boring all at once, haha. The cases are mostly interesting but it was tedious to get through them all and try to extract connections to the text. On to math today! In retrospect, I wish I started with that first. I have been in a pattern of only sleeping ever other day and last night was not a sleeping night, so my first math class in 20+ years should be interesting :/

Photo QOTD:

My friends had this game going on a group thread the other day and it was hilarious. I think we had over 100 over the day. I think my favorite was "A Breakfast Person".

Accountability: Hmm so I decided to go look way back in my MFP entries for when I was about a year out from surgery for a little inspiration. I've made a conscious effort to go back to the foods that helped me be successful, but I am struggling to keep the portions where they were. For example, last night I made Trader Joe's turkey meatballs, which were a daily staple for me for like 3 years until I got super sick of them. But at a year out, I used to struggle to eat 2 of them, and last night I ate 5 and could easily have eaten more. I'm not sure what to do about that...I'm going to reduce the amount tonight and add in a little cauliflower as a filler. But I know I need to eat a lot less if I am going to actually lose weight.

B: 2% Peach Fage Greek Yogurt

S: 1/4 c almonds & babybel cheese

L: Vegetarian chicken patty

D: 3 turkey meatballs and spicy cauliflower

Good mornin JB and everyone.

I'm up with an upset stomach. I had to send in pictures of my incisions and the surgeon thinks I'm reacting to the staples and they've gotten infected. So i'm on a course of augmentin. Going to be a ton of fun! At least I have probiotics to take with it to ease it a bit. I'm so super over this crap. I've been taking such care with these incisions and it kind of feels like a slap in the face. Oh well...it is what it is now.

Not sure what today'll hold. My mom wants to run a load to the thrift store. She's on a kick of cleaning and weeding stuff out. I am not to keen on it as I have no energy. I know I can't do much anyway but seriously no energy makes doing anything hard. We have to go to the bank too.

QOTD: he only thing I can think of this early is..."The Lone Musketeer".

B: sausage and a very small piece of a biscuit

L: ????

D: turkey soup

S: ????

Oh yuck. My incision was infected after the lap-band, and it was miserable :( Hope it feels better soon!

Love the Lone Muskateer :)

Mel, sorry for what you're going through. I don't see how a body can have staples, not to mentor amount you have from the procedure, and not react to them! Hope the drugs help and the days to removal pass quickly! It sounds like you've been pretty active, all things considered.

Good morning QJB and menuers,

419 pages of law text...and your brain didn't melt? That's fabulous! No wonder you didn't sleep with everything rattling around in there.

QOTD- Clerk?

So yesterday was interesting in a couple of unexpected ways. The first person I saw at the clinic was an APRN I haven't met before who asked if anyone had called about the ultrasound. Ultimately, I have sludge in my gallbladder and they want to remove it. The surgical consult with my WLS is Monday. Dr. Google seems to think sludge without symptoms is treatable but I've had three weeks of pains, so I don't know. They couldn't tell if there are stones, and boy was the tech thorough with imaging. I've got a PCP visit scheduled tomorrow for a laundry list of things. Will add this to get a medical opinion.

I can add real carbs to my diet! Oatmeal! Starchy vegetables including beans and potatoes! Some blueberries! Yep, I'm excited. This stems from the feedback that in their minds, my progress on losing weight is where they would expect for a patient at a year. He also said that I can estimate losing half my post-surgery loss in the following six months. I hear them and am going to file it away to keep on. Somehow I've gone from not losing fast enough early on to ahead of the curve. It means I get oatmeal, so okay!

They did draw extra blood for coagulation testing because of the bruising. Yesterday I learned you never want to be a tired phlebotomist's first patient of the day. She couldn't hold the needle still during the 9 vial draw and now I can't bend my elbow. Poor lady.

So in the first week of February, I'll be getting braces, and not the clear ones since I react to nickel. Two years of that. The four extractions are scheduled for March 24th right now. All the things. Does seem weird to do braces first but orthodontist says I can and the oral surgeon prefers it. Go figure.

Work from home today!

Accountability-Good! Have been advised to hard avoid fat for now because of the gallbladder though.

Exercise- Went with recumbent bike. Will again today.

Menu

Hopefully a nice cup of tea. Yogurt, chicken soup, turkey breast, probably more yogurt instead of casserole.

I've been reading everything if not responding as much right now. Chrissy, sorry for the rough weekend. I hope it gets better. Jim, looks like you had a blast! Kelly - yay for walking! Happy Tuesday, everyone.

wow, your doctor told you to expect to gain back half of what you lost? That's probably trying to set expectations low so you can be successful. He's using my old IT project trick of undercommitting but hopefully over delivering. I did just do the math and that would make me very disappointed in myself. Enjoy your expanded (but also constrained) menu and hope they get the GB taken care of soon. Assuming no complications, it will be an easier recovery than your extractions!

I read that as they are saying she is 2/3 of the way through losing and will drop another half of what she has lost to date.
