hollykim, I don't know where I fall either yet, but I'll be in line no matter. Good luck with it!

Melody, I seem to have missed this post. There have been so many healthcare workers say they have large numbers who have died from the virus, so I'm also more afraid of it than from a vaccine that hundreds of scientists have been working on. I thought I was on the fence, but the more I read, the more I'm convinced that the scientists are working to save us. I don't need more convincing. It's so sad for so many people and their families.

Citizen Kim, thanks for this info. I'm going to have to study up on it more since I am not fully informed on antibodies, etc. My neighbor's college-age daughter got it, was a bit sick but not too bad, and no one else in the house got it so far and it's been 2 weeks now.

White Dove, this whole thing is surely a mystery. I have heard about nearly every version of symptoms. One woman only found out she'd had Covid when she gave blood and they tested her blood for antibodies. Lucky her, she was around 60 and the only symptom she had was her sense of taste went wonky for a few weeks. The list is long on symptoms!

Kathleen W., you're right, we do know ourselves better. With the research most people have done, we should have it wired right! Take care of yourself as well, and I hope everyone on this site does as well. There are some good and caring people here and I've found in the past 6 months or so, that most are very willing to help others out with true life advice and suggestions.

Hi again, that seems like a less daunting number. Glad we won't have to stand in line like I did when I was a kid! Good luck on your wait!

JuniperBerry, thank you for this response! Looks like we all have some time to let the enthusiasm build, hope they can streamline it some. What an undertaking!

Partlypollyanna,

Sheese, with numbers like that ahead of us, there's plenty of time left to build up our excitement! By that time, there should be a good number of reports about it. Thanks for the calculator info!

I'm sure we'll all be nervous, but I'm also nervous of the alternatives. Living this life long term is not a pretty picture. It's been necessary for this past 9 months but I can't imagine 5 years of this...

hollykim, thanks! It's funny, I started to read your post and my mind replaced the word inaugurated with the word Vaccinated! I'm supposing they will vaccinate the new President and his cabinet first, right?

catwoman7, I hear ya, this past year (almost) of our lives has been long enough for me...I have a grown son in a lockdown state that is so fearful of covid that he hardly lives. Much of it comes from his own anxieties and nothing personally experienced, but still it's changed the way we live and are able to be with our loved ones so much. I am DONE.

Melody P., have you seen any results from the trials that are going on? Do you personally know anyone who has had the vaccine?

JuniperBerry,

I would have been higher risk for sure had I not had rny, but likely still am since I'm less than 6 mo out. It instills confidence when someone responds with such conviction that they will get the vaccine. Thanks.

Citizen Kim, I'm so happy to hear that it's behind your family. Were there any really serious complications that any of you had? The symptoms and outcomes seems to be all over the map. I know of a woman who had her sense of taste be gone for a couple of weeks and the only way she found out she had it was that she gave blood, and since about July the Red Cross is testing for the antibodies if you have given blood.

White Dove,

It makes sense that the health care workers will be first in line, so even though my brother wasn't in the trials, he would be very early since he's an emergency room specialist. I was hoping to know firsthand what his reaction was since he volunteered for the vaccine, but I'll have to keep eyes on it otherwise. Can you imagine herd immunity by summer...I don't even dare hope. Polio was a scary thing for sure..I remember vaguely knowing of people who had had it and having it instill a fear in some of us kids. We actually know of people who have contracted Covid and died, so I'm hoping they will release some of the trial information soon on the success..have you seen any?

Kathleen W., there are likely a lot of people in the same boat. I remember being lined up as a kid for vaccinations and that needle looked like it should be used on a horse or an elephant! Our lives have been so drastically changed by this pandemic, I'd like to be on the fence about it, but am also high risk.

According to what they tell us, there could be vaccine in December or January on a limited basis. Who here will be lining up for it? My brother is a doctor and he had signed up to take the shot in trials, but they didn't follow up with him so he didn't get to participate.

Is anyone nervous about a new vaccine?

Retiredteacher, I totally get what you're feeling. I'm not always the greatest at posting often, but for the past few months just knowing that there is someone here on this website that "gets" me or what I'm going through or even just cares, is very valuable to me! Even though our situations might be very different, I feel like I have concerned people here who give a darn about me and my situation. Welcome back! I've read a lot on here about people feeling down or experiencing some regain due to the pandemic, and we have to stick together and just not let this thing beat us.

Wow, you would put me to shame with your fashion sense. I have multiple masks and they are all different and once in a blue moon something ends up matching something I'm wearing! I'm a mess in that category! I like your thoughts that maybe by next summer we may be out of this mask phase, crossing all fingers on that one. It's getting harder all the time to not see our loved ones and give them the big ol' hugs we used to!

White Dove, I'm sorry I missed this message of yours. I really don't want to be a threat to anyone, so I'm just going to be as much in the middle of the road as I can. I wasn't placed here on earth to judge anyone, it's not in my job description, so their food choices are their own, and their portion sizes. I don't have the power or inclination to judge, but I understand that a sideways glance could be misunderstood!

hollykim, so sorry for the late reply to this, I appreciate your advice. I've decided that if they were friendly and supportive before and change to the negative with me slimming down and being healthier, I don't need them, absolutely.

Tek, this is very helpful insight. I didn't even stop to think that I could become the enemy of any of them who are overweight, and there are some. I suppose I felt closer to them at that time since I was one of them, but I don't want to lose those relationships. I just couldn't let my health get more out of control so I did something about it after a good deal of searching.

I am going to make sure I don't overshare about my food choices and new clothes I might buy. I can't shut off completely like you say or they will make up their own minds about how nice I am. Keyword you use is balance. I guess I need to have as much understanding about what they're thinking and feeling as I hope they have for me and my new lifestyle.

You are very wise, thank you!
