SLEEVED...AT HOME....TRYING TO STAY ON SCHEDULE

WELL, I DID IT! I'M ON THE "OTHER SIDE" AND SLEEVED. WAS ONLY IN HOSPITAL A DAY AND A HALF, I WAS DOING SO WELL. BUT THEN I GOT HOME LAST NIGHT, WORK UP IN MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN PAIN....PAIN I WASN'T FEELING IN HOPSITAL, COURTESY OF THE MORPHINE DRIP.

MY SURGEON TOLD MY HUSBAND AND I THAT THE PROCEDURE WAS TEXT BOOK AND WENT PERFECT. SO THAT MAKES ME FEEL REALLY GREAT! I WISH I WOULD HAVE SPENT LAST NIGHT IN HOSPITAL TO GET THE FULL EFFECT OF WHAT THE PAIN WAS REALLY GOING TO BE LIKE, PRIOR TO COMING HOME. PAIN IS NOT HORRIBLE, JUST UNCOMFORABLE GAS.....I'M WALKING, WALKING, WALKING AS MUCH AS I CAN AND THAT SEEMS TO HELP!

I'VE LEARNED NO ONE CAN PREPARE YOU FOR THAT FIRST SIP OF WATER, YOUR MOUTH SO DESPERATELY WANTS AND CRAVES. THEN WHEN IT'S TIME, I WAS SO NERVOUS ABOUT WHAT THAT WAS GOING TO FEEL LIKE. IT JUST FEELS DIFFERENT -- A FEELING LIKE  YOU KNOW YOUR STOMACH IS SMALLER AND THE FEELING OF LIQUIDS FILLS U UP QUICKLY. SO I'M FOCUSED ON SMALL, SLOW SIPS..

MY DIETITIAN HAS ME ON A 8AM-6PM SCHEDULE OF DRINIKING, TAKING VITIMANS, OR BOTH EVERY HOUR............HOW THE HECK AM I SUPPOSE TO FIT IN NAPPING INBETWEEN??

BY THE WAY....IT'S TIME FOR A NAP! THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S SUPPORT. WILL UPDATE IN A FEW DAYS!

BEST,
TAMARA

I know how you feel! I am one month out and I had the same thoughts when I was first home, with all the sip sip sipping and taking of meds, vitamins, etc, and you're not supposed to lay down until you stomach is empty - how do you take a nap!  lol. You just do the best you can. I slept in a recliner for the first week home, which helped.
You seem like you're doing great though. Best of luck to you - one day at a time and try not to get overwhelmed.

Welcome home.  Guess I forgot to mention the pain is a B*.  Take your pain meds, sip and rest.  Speedy recovery!!
