Hello all i had my gallbladder out on February 28Th but the week before i had it removed i was very sick nothing stayed down so i did not eat.

Than had surgery and was so happy thinking i could eat again. Well it is a struggle now I am lucky to eat 2 times a day. I can only hold 2oz of meat and that is it. If i try to take more I get sick so now i am down to 1oz  of meat 2 tsp of veggies like beans carrots and 3 pieces of lettuce. I do not know what happened to me.

I could eat 3 or 4 oz of meat and than 2oz of beans. Has my stomach shrunk so small now from being sick a month ago. This is not in my head i feel very full. My surgeon did a scope in February and said my stomach was fine. but something is wrong that i just can not eat alot and I am not hungry for hours after I eat 2oz it still feels so full.

My husband told me to day you know you eat less now than before you got sick. He asked me if i was ok and he is going to my doctors appt with me next time because he is getting worried. I played it off and told him i was fine and it was all in his mind i eat fine. I just do not want him to worry about his. I wanted this surgery and I am the only one who needs to worry i feel.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

I just wanted to say something because no one has yet.  I'm sorry you are dealing with this. In all honesty, my first reaction was omg I wish I had that problem, but then I realised from where you are coming from this is a serious problem and one that I shouldn't wish for.

When you are ill and not eating your stomach can tighten up and shrink...but you said the dr tested it?  Could just be your appitie is gone?

I would recommend eating more often, even if it is just one bite of chicken or cheese. Just something so that you don't end up losing loads of muscle.  Also consider going back to protein shakes until you can figure out what it wrong.  I know the weight loss can look good, but it really isn't good if it is muscle...our hearts are made of muscle...and I dunno about you, but I like my heart the way it is! lol.

I wish you the best in finding a solution.

I was unable to eat after surgery and had a very difficult time for the first three months. After meeting with my surgeon, he told me that some patients have a paralysis of the stomach after surgery (any kind of digestive surgery), which makes it very sluggish with digestion. Everything you describe sounds like what I went through. Extra fiber helped to get my system going again.

You may consider this and talk to your doctor. The good news is that it resolves itself with time.

I am experiencing something similar...I had a period of illness for 2 weeks and since I have found I cant really eat very much at all and it keeps me full, even less than I was eating before which was tiny to begin with.

My boyfriend was worried too because I seem to be eating less and it scared him that maybe my stomach shrunk during the illness. Whatever it is I guess I just have to keep eating every few hours...

Hope you are feeling better since your gallbladder surgery!

It sounds like you are doing well.  As long as you are getting in enough protein and water I wouldn't worry about it.
