Will my CPAP cause gas??

Just got a call from the hospital reminding me t bring my CPAP for my stay - I already  have something weird going with swallowing air and burping as I get up or move in my sleep. I would thinkg after VSG this could be a disaster! Sounds like there will already be a buildup of gas and stuff, has anyone gone through this??

Took my bipap which they zapped on me the minute I woke up from surgery. No problems at all.

In fact, I was anxious about not having it...had a family member who didn't use one after surgery    (not WLS) with bad consequences!!

I dont know about having more gas with the cpap but I love my cpap cause I can't sleep without it and after surgery you want to sleep so I don't go anywhere without it, and also I personally didn't start having gas problems/pains till I got home.

I had the same problem with swallowing air - was terrified about using my CPAP in the hospital. Once surgery was over, I simply refused it. Wouldn't wear it.

What were they going to do, sew my stomach back in? Haven't worn it since surgery.

It isa machine used to produce an airflow down your throat to keep your air passages open while sleeeping. People with sleep apnea usually stop breathing in their sleep which causes them to continually wake up through the night so we do not get much rest which causes daytime sleepiness.

I wore mine in the hospital as soon as I got back to my room from the recovery room.  I never sleep without it - but then again I needed a pressure of 18.

Never had any problems swallowing air or anything like that - and my mask covers my nose and my mouth.

I just noticed my ticker!  THUD!  I can't believe this!

Sorry for the hijack!  A year ago I was looking at other people's tickers and thinking I'd never get there :(

Yeah I have that going on NOW, since you are post op, have you noticed that you have any like gas pressure or are you just burping?
