ok I am having a hard time getting in my BP meds.  It's so bitter and nasty after being crushed up.  I put it in my cream soup, applesauce, yogurt and I'm just gagging.  I went to Dr and told him and he said try some salt cause it takes the bitter out. Well now it tastes like salty bitter nastiness lol  I need to get my BP meds in but I'm lost at how to do it.  Any help or suggestions that worked for you guys/gals would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Kerry

Been there.. done that!!

What I do recommended by my surgeon is to CUT the meds into pieces by a pill cutter.. works great. The size should not be bigger than the head of Lincoln on  a penny.. for now. It worked.. helped to get a lot of water in too. BUT it took awhile at first.

Now I can swallow all my meds except the potassium pill (big)..so I cut that up with pill cutter.

Good luck.. it CAN be done hon~ Jan

My BP med was a little tiny pill that I swallowed whole the day after surgery (with doctor's permission). The only thing I had to cut in half for a couple weeks was my B1.

My doc said anything smaller than an MM can be swallowed and everything else, cut in half. I didnt have to crush anything.

I just swallowed it like normal, with a sip of water.  My surgeon gave me pills to take within a couple of days of surgery.  No problem.

hmmm thank you for your responses.  I think I might try and swallow then maybe cut it in half and swallow with water. I just didn't want to hurt my sleeve and my doc says crush everything ughhh but I can't choke down how awful it tastes crushed so hopefully if it worked for ya'll it should work for me no problems lol Thanks again  Kerry

I have worked as a nurse for over 20 years, and found pudding can cover the tast of some pretty stuf! notice stuf is a 4 letter word. I have also foundt that it helps cut pills to go down. Ask your surgen,s nurse about cutting the pill and what size is acceptable. Mine said nothing bigger than a baby asprin.
