Gout
If you actually have gout you need to see your doctor for long term treatment, but the first step is a strong prescription anti-inflammatory (usually Indocin). But even naproxen sodium or ibuprofen helps with the pain for a short term fix.
But can you totally rule out a blood clot? I'd call your surgeon.

I have had gout 3 times since surgery in March. I had hit my foot a wk after surgery, the doctors thought it was from my injury i was having sooooo much pain couldnt even stand anything touching it. I thought i was going to die trying to put my shoe on. This went on for several weeks when my other foot started hurting I went to my family dr who said it was gout. he put me on medication to calm the symptoms down and another to prevent more attacks but it took awhile for that one to kick in. My doctor said it is a side effect from the rapid weight loss, and here i was waiting for the gall bladder attack
. You will need to go to the dr for meds it won't go away with home remedies. I started getting relief within 12 hrs of taking the meds. they will also take blood to check your uric acid levels which is the cause of it.

With you being so new out, please call your surgeon first to rule out clot. Then go to your PCP for a gout assessment and blood draw. I have had gout for years, only flairs up a couple time a year and have not had a flair up since surgery, so not sure about the rapid weight loss causing it. call your docs
