Denied? Oh we changed our mind!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!

A week ago Friday, I had been told from my Drs office that the claim for the sleeve was denied which wasn't a surprise since I knew all along I was going to have to appeal, since my insurance company only covers bypass and lapband.  I called my insurance right after I was notified from my surgeons office to find out how I go about appealing, since I hadn't received my letter yet.  They called me back this past Monday to tell me how to appeal, and as I was talking to the woman, she asked why I was so interested in the sleeve.  I told her about my arthritis and how I take so much NSAIDS because of it.  I told her how I was diagnosed with it at an early age and was afraid as I got older I would have to take something stronger than I did now, and I couldn't do that with a bypass.  She said she agreed, the bypass wouldn't be the right surgery for me, and took my case to a MD on staff.  He agreed as well, and now I'm scheduled for my sleeve on March 6th!!!!

I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!!  Even though I had to have my six month evaluation prior to the claim being submitted, I feel like all of a sudden it is a total whirlwind and its going so fast!  I mean, I was approved on Wednesday, had my preop class Thursday, and start my preop diet in three days!!!

I can't wait to be hanging with you on the losers bench!!!!

Congtatulations! Like you I had te six month evaluation requirement, but one all tests were done and the paperwork was submitted I was approved within 2 days. I  agree- it does go so fast- got approved 1/20, started pre op diet 1/31 and  just  had surgery 2/14. I understand your excitement- its getting approved  is a great feeling and now everything really speeds by. I had a very good surgery, only post-op nausea from the anesthesia and gas pain in my chest the first day, and no pain. May all go smoothly for you also, and see you very soon on the losers bench!
