I had gone in for the RNY but did talk to the doctor about the damage my eroded band had done...we thought since we waited a year it wouldn't be a problem but just in case I asked him to do the safest and best thing and to let God guide it...the erosion was right where he would have needed to put the staple line so it wasn't safe and it looked, in his words, "hammered!"  So....I'm home, very sore but moving and sipping and breathing...really having a hard time getting all the liquid in but I'm trying!

You are more than welcome here--so many of us are revisions and as we learn, we grow right?

Grats on getting home and sippin'....and rockin' your sleeve!

Yes, there are plenty of former bandsters, like myself, that are now sleeved.  I just got home yesterday, and am also working on sipping enough fluids.  Congrats and best of luck to you!

Melly!!!  You too huh?    Thanks for having me here AnnMarie, can't wait to see how life is different with this new sleeve...the doctor said he put on a 29 French Bougie, which is one of the smallest, so it gives me the best chances of losing the weight I want....I'm excited...just sat down from my double lap around the house with my 9-year-old daughter and another restroom break...gotta love the liquids!!

Did you have problems changing from the band to the sleeve?

I actually had two surgeries, one to remove the eroded band (which nearly took an open procedure and almost caused me to go septic) and then I waited a year for the revision.  The band removal was way worse than this, though it is far from a picnic!  I have not been hungry since the surgery and quite honestly, the thought of food makes me feel sick.  I'm just focusing on sipping, walking, resting and repeating throughout the day.  I know some people get both done in the same procedure, but with my erosion that wasn't possible.  Good luck with your decision and surgery...I can't stand the crap band and I will talk anyone I can out of it.
