WHAT COULD THIS DISCOMFORT BE?

I think I'm working on an ulcer. In the past week food feels funny uncomfortable after I've eaten, not while I'm actually eating but once it's in the tummy. I feel slightly uncomfortable and icky but definitely emanating from the tummy. I have an appointment with a Dr tomorrow, not my Dr since I'm out of the country, and not a bariatric surgeon, in fact I don't even know if he will be aware of sleeve surgery, but hey it's enough discomfort for me to seek answers. Annoying.

It occurs to me that in all the time I've been on here, I've never heard of anyone having an ulcer and 9 months since surgery seems like a very small amount of time to develop one (although i have had an extraordinary amount of stress of late). Since I've never had one I'm taking stabs in the dark but it's certainly not business as usual or the normal 'heavy' feeling of food being in there.

I should add that I've never had reflux or any of the other issues I've seen posted about. just a dull ache after i eat and it's democratic, doesn't matter whether it's meat or yogurt the same feeling happens.

I have had my gallbladder removed.

Any ideas??

i don't know what this is but am glad you are seeing someone. i have heard its a good idea to tell unfamiliar doctors you have had a partial gastrectomy and then give details because they know what that is. gl. hope you get some relief. diane

I only suggesting this because you're out of the country and don't know which country (some have better medical care than others).

Maybe you picked up a bug from differen****er? Just a thought.

Try getting some malox. If it is an ulcer that should ease the symtoms a little. It might help in the diagnosis.

I've had small ulcers in the past brought on by too much use of Advil and milk/dairy products make it feel better for a few minutes after eating then worse the rest of the day.

How long before you can come home and see your own doc?

Good luck,
keep us posted

I have no new advice, but I'm glad you's be seeing the doc and I agree with telling him that you have had a partial gastrectomy.  I really hope it's something minor and you feel better soon!

Thank you everyone and sorry for the long wait time but I'm on the other side of the world and then i wanted my US Dr to weigh in on the diagnosis and OK the treatment.  He just emailed me.  I have an irritation in the gastric track, a pre ulcerous condition.  Mostly stress I'd imagine.  it's not a chronic condition which is what i expected and i probably went to the Dr quicker than i would have in the US because being away with a strange surgery you tend to be more careful.  They want to revisit it in 3 months and hopefully I'll be back in the US with my surgeon then.  Carafate and a PPI (which i haven't taken beyond the first month).  I was pleased to do something preventative.

Carmelita, I bought some pro-biotics, figure it can't hurt and I'd thought about taking them before but hadn't gotten to it, like so much in life.  Good ideas drop by the wayside. Thanks for the suggestion and for the time you took to think about what it might be.  I truly appreciate it.

My US Dr had gotten on board and filled the Dr in on the surgery and the anatomy i was dealing it which was way helpful.

I'm so glad it's not (hopefully) something that is going to turn into a thing.  /it would be a catastrophe if i turned into a patient right now.

Thanks for all the suggestions and well wishes.  I did forget my tiara when i was packing but I'm in the land of Tiara's and some broad named Kate has enough for ten gals.  I'm gonna see if she'll let me borrow one.
