Had my consult with Plastic surgeon on Tuesday.  I really like him.  He comes highly recommened by several doctors I know.  We made a plan, and its just up to me which surgery I want to do first.
When I told him that I really wanted to lose 15 more before surgery, he had a response I have never heard in my whole life.
He said he would be fine with me losing 10-15, but no more.  I have never heard that in my life.  A doctor telling me to only lose 10 lbs....LOL
Problem is that I really think I need to lose more.  I'm 168 now.  My personal goal has always been 140-150. I know that I will lose about 10 lbs with the skin removal.  However I'm afraid to have surgery and then lose more and not be happy with the surgery.
He stressed to me that I look smaller then what I weigh, and he doesnt want me to look un healthy.

What would you all do????? HELP PLEASE

Only you can decide where you are happy. Its probably better to lose it and then later decide if you want to put a few lbs back on. Just keep in mind that PS is rough on the body and will likely kick up your metabolism into high gear and you may lose a little as you recover.

Hi ACB,
I'm going to follow your lead and give running another try.  Maybe that will help jump start me again.  I'm starting slow of course.  Trying not to hurt myself again.  I really want to run a 5K before my PS.  Wish me luck.

Perhaps from his experience, he already knows how you will look and how much the removed skin weight will be. You may be surprised at how much of that extra weight you think you still need to lose may just be excess skin weight. You may actually be much lighter and tighter than you think and he wants you to look healthy, not sickly thin. Sometimes we can't see what others see, and we can be too critical of ourselves. My suggestion is to trust in his experience, skills, and advice. You'd trust your sleeve surgeon, so why not him?

My surgeon has all his patients on a probation no plastics till atleast 2 years because he says that there can be more loss or regain. Maybe he was just trying to agree with you but I think if you haven't reached your goal give yourself a little more time, after the skin removal I'm sure you'll drop a few more pounds

If you weight 168 now and lose the 10 to 15 pounds you talked to the doctor about, you would end up at your ultimate goal of 140 to 150 after the 10ish pounds of skin is removed.  And, even if you aren't at that weight I don't imagine losing a few more pounds after surgery would cause you to have more loose skin.  I'm sure the surgeon though could talk to you about that and clarify any questions/issues you may have about additional weight loss after plastic surgery.

Best of luck to you !
