Im pre op waiting for the vsg on 6/27... I've been searching the net today trying to find fod alternatives that I can eat after surgery that would be healthy... I came across this type of tofu noodle and was wondering if anyone has tried it... 1/4 cup has 20 calories and 2grams of carbs from what I saw today this is a pasta alternative that could be used as spaghetti noodles

I've tried these before but not post-op.  After surgery with protein first there wouldn't be any room.  Getting the protein in after surgery is a battle.  Maybe when you are further out?  They aren't too bad with some Alfredo sauce (you can use the laughing cow light cheese to make Alfredo).  The smell is not great and you have to rinse under water for 10 min.

Thanks for the info happy girl...does it have a lot of protein??? It will be a long time before I would try it and I would probably just have an ounce...due to eating protein first. Does it taste like real pasta???? Never had tofu before

No it doesn't taste like real pasta.  It has a texture like no other.  It's kind of like rubbery.  For four onces you only get one gram of protein.  Not a good use of the space you are going to have.

I had this big order for low carb stuff for online and almost placed the order, it was either at the same stage you are or post op. I got thinking that I should really be lucky to get protein in, no room for this stuff. Nine months out and still no room for it so glad I didnt get the order lol. Our heads just get thinking ahead. There are somedays now where I think of buying some of the bread for a sandwich craving but I will wait for awhile yet. I think this stuff is more ideal for maintenance.

Tried them and one has to rinse, rinse, rinse to get rid of the fishy smell (which is some kind of preservative) and then they are quite gummy and not easily chewed. I know I swallowed them before I should have by accident. I really prefer taking the vegetable peeler to a zucchini and making "noodles". The taste is fabulous. You can make lasagna or meat sauce or just use as a quick saute with a bit of olive oil and garlic. Really I don't miss the pasta and I was a very frequent pasta eater. If I do eat any pasta or noodles they are a garnish to the sauce rather than a base. So a serving of meat sauce with a sprinkle of noodle on top. LOL! The pasta fills me up too fast and I have no room for protein.

Could you please tell me more about your zucchini noodles? Do you cook them before serving? Use them raw?
