Optifast
I had to do the Optifast for 6 weeks pre-op without any food whatsoever. I used sugar free syrups in the shakes (chocolate with chocolate syrup and vanilla with hazelnut syrup) to get me through. I could not stand the strawberry at all! I also didn't like them too cold and once I was done drinking, I had to remove the cup from my face right away so I wouldn't smell the after smell... I had recorded my Optifast struggles on my youtube page (greenstoldhead). Take a look. I don't know if it will help you or not, but good luck! It will all pay off in the end!!!

I could have had the SF jello only (didnt because I cant stand artificial sweetner. I can taste them all) and water. That was it. No soup, no food....
Dont get me wrong, this part (liquid diet) is the hardest part of the journey but you can do it! I am living proof ! (most people have 2 to 4 weeks of a liquid diet w/a small dinner)

I'm sure maintenance will actually be the most difficult but up to now the 2 week pre-op diet was by FAR the most difficult thing I've done in the journey. It was awful. It is so much easier on the other side of the surgery.
