Falling off the wagon

Kind of bummed out. I'm only 2 weeks out (23 lbs down) and the scale hasn't moved in a week...I feel like not only a failure, but also lost. I bough vitamins that I thought I could take and come to find out they are too big to swallow and there goes 30$ down the drain along with the protein that I can't seem to find....needless to say, I'm broke so I haven't been taking the vitamins or drinking the protein drinks. I get some protein from my food but that's it. on top of everything, my head hunger is totally still there.

I KNOW what I need to do But getting there is hard. Im not complaining because all of these things are my fault but I'm feeling discouraged. Has anyone been in this predicament before?

This makes me feel angry with your doctor. Didn't they tell you about the vitamins? And help you get the right ones? And what do you mean you cant find the protein?? You need protein to heal.

I'm not yelling at you. I know you're upset and bummed and part of that is the normal after surgery reaction. But you need to get fluids and protein in to heal.

I can't find a protein drink that I can tolerate. I'm on mushies and I've been getting in protein just not enough (probably around 30-35 g). I'm doing ok on fluids and I am healing well. This is my fault completely. I just need to step up my game. I get paid this week so I plan on hopping back on and trying harder--that's all I can do. The good news is, I just weighed myself and I'm down 5 more pounds. So surprising.

Can you cut or smash the vitamin pills so you can take them? And when you say you can't "tolerate" any protein drinks, do you mean that they make you sick, or just that they taste yucky? Is your body actually rejecting then, or your taste buds?

Look, *please* listen.  Vitamins and protein aren't negotiable.  You will be able to swallow your vitamins soon, so just set them aside for later.  As for protein, what do you mean, you can't find one you can tolerate?  Do they make you vomit?  Do they upset your stomach?  Do they taste bad?  Tolerate is a broad term.  People can help you if you are specific.

Also, you are 23 pounds down, so don't worry if the scale moves or not.  You are doing fine!  Your body has been traumatized and is trying to sort things out.  Just make sure to FEED it what it needs (protein and vitamins) and make sure you're getting your liquids in.

I felt hungry until I was cleared for regular foods.  Don't panic.  Drink drink drink.  Do you drink coffee?  I *love* protein powder in coffee with some almond milk.  It is so delicious.  DON'T GIVE UP!!  Perk up!  It's important to your continued success!!

Thank you all--i know how serious this is. As for the protein drinks, I can't find one that I can drink without gagging on the taste. I did go to tropical smoothie and got a SF mango smoothie with lf yogurt and added 25g of whey that I enjoyed. I just got frustrated because every single one i have bought has been disgusting.

I don't want anyone to worry because I am not giving up--i just need some encouragement c

Try Isopure, my flavor of choice was Alpine Punch.  A iittle pricey, but drinks like kool aid and it will really help in the early weeks.

Try experiementing with protein powders.  1 scoop vanilla powder, milk or water, and sugar free torani syryup.  You would be amazed at how good you can make them.  My current favorite is 1 scoop vanilla powder mixed with orange juice (trop50- low sugar no pulp) and ice cubes.  Tastes like a creamsicle.  Others do chocolate protein powder and a little pb2 (dehdrated peanut butter).

Look up on the search bar the 3 week stall- totally normal so don't beat yourself up over it.

You can buy chewable vitamins.

Hang in there!

I have some trouble with shakes.  However if I mix a little syrup with them I can totally get them down.  My current go to is a chocolate shake made w/ almond milk with a shot of caramel syrup.

Vitamins...they should have told you to get chewable for at first.  I feel like your doctor didn't prepare you as fully as they should have.

Just a thought with the vitamins.... hold onto them.  See if you can take them if you cut them in half.  Once you get further out, you may be able to swallow them without difficulty.  I take regular vitamins now, whole... but I also had trouble with the chewable...making me gag due to the taste.

I had trouble finding a protein I liked too... I ended up buying and ordering a whole bunch of samples... and eventually found one I liked.  Samples were much less expensive than a whole tub of something to only find that I did not like it.  I did find as I got further out, the powders I did not like worked well in the cake recipies on theworldaccordingtoeggface.com.
