I know that recovery varies but I'm just curious. How long does it take to have the energy to get through a whole day? I am a teacher so I am movin all day long.

Hi! I am a teacher also and had my surgery the Wed. before spring break. So I was off for 1.5 weeks. I would have really liked a couple more days. Two weeks would have been great. I was really sore and uncomfortable for a while, but I think two weeks is good because going back to work made me get up and get moving.

I had two weeks, although I worked from home in the second week and dialled in for meetings etc. I was still tired the 3rd week and sometimes went home at about 3pm, but was completely ok by week 4.

Agree, everyone is different and a lot depends on your job and other responsibilties. I have very long days and on feet most of the day. I was also going to school fulltime and caregiver for my mom. I had gallbladder and sleeve at the same time and took a full 6 weeks off. I had a very easy recovery with no complications. My biggest challenge was energy level . Your body is adjusting to living off 500 calories a day and getting your fluids in the first few weeks is tough. I am glad I took the time off needed to fully recover. My biggest surprise was energy level. It took me several months to feel back to normal energy level. I walked short distances and gradually increased until I got my strength completely back. I do have a very active life and had little time to rest so the 6 weeks was very helpful for me. Good luck .

I took three weeks off and returned on 50% which my doc kindly gave me until the end of November so that will be another four weeks on half time. I think I could have gone back full time, I have a desk job, but I did get tired a couple of times over this past week so I sure do appreciate the extra rest.

My job is pretty sedintary but I was back to work 4 days post-op. Energy to get through the day without pushing it, about a week. I would say with your job you should take at least a week or two.
