I've heard of the one incision surgery. I didn't know it was called 'spider surgery' thats a pretty weird name. Makes me thing that the robot must have like 8 legs working inside that one incision!

I had 6 incisions total, they are all pretty small and healed really nice. Not sure who can do the one incision surgery. I haven't heard of any one local....

Seems risky. With the 6 incisions they have the different angles to work with. IDK. May be the next best thing.

I've actually heard of a lot of people now doing that surgery. It seems to be popular in New York and California. Yes, they call it spider surgery. There was actually a demonstration of it on the Dr. Oz show. I've heard that doctors may not be able to do the surgery quite as perfectly as they can with the typical 5-6 incisions. I would be worried the doctor might not dissect the entire fundus or pull as tight around the bougie. OF course, if a doctor is very practiced with doing it, then perhaps it might be excellent.

Actually, I think it's done here in Baltimore.  I know during the info sessions, it was discussed as a possibility.  But I didn't have it.  I don't know if my surgeon does it, or the other surgeon. They go in through your navel.  I have a big ol' C-section scar that is horizontal, so I didn't figure I was even a candidate.

I had the single incision to do my VSG, hernia repair, and gallbladder removal. I have one tiny scar in my belly button.
