OMG this hasn't occurred to me at all. I normally don't get any kind of motion sickness, but the 2 times I've had surgery before it was disastrous for nausea. Like out patient surgery turned into an overnight stay because I couldn't stop puking. OMG. I have to ask my surgeon about this. Thank you SO MUCH for this post! I'll remember it for sure!

I did have the patch behind my ear about 1 hour before surgery and I kept it on for 3 days after surgery. I never experienced any nausea of any kind. My friend also had the same surgery and the Dr. gave her extra patches to take home and they have helped a lot with her nausea.

I can usually abate the nausea with mind over matter. My dr. Prescribed scopolamine for myself & husband the night before surgery. J had dry heaves a couple of times. I threw up every time I got out of bed. He ordered 2 meds for nausea. I was  alternating them every 3 hours around the clock even with the patch. Like another poster said every one is different. Ask your dr. for a script. Maybe he'll give it to you the night before like my dr. did. Good luck.

My doc gave me a script for a patch to put on at midnight before surgery. Told me that they might tell me to do it three hours prior to surgery...but to ignore them and do it at midnight. Also a pill 3 hour before surgery. I did and not a single prob with nausea!
