You should be just fine with broth.  And yes, you can probably drain juice from any type of soup and have it.  Especially the first few days the concentration is more on staying hydrated and getting used to the new tummy.

Is this for real?

You should have gotten some discharge orders or instructions, but it seems to me as long as your broth doesn't have any chunks or anything in it that should be fine. Hydration is the most important early out like you are. Good luck and try to get ahold of your dietician/nutritionist again so you can know for sure what your plan is.

Water, crystal light, bouillon, diluted 50/50 fruit juice, flavored waters and your protein shakes....thin. get with your nut.

Congratulations and welcome to the losers bench!  I wouldn't necessarily drain the juice out of ANYTHING, though.  Anything that is acidic may give you a stomach ache.  It may also be helpful to only introduce one new food/taste per day so you can see if you are going to have issues with it.   I was allowed diluted grape juice and apple juice but no orange juice.  The first few days is just about keeping yourself hydrated.  Different people have different reactions to food.  Some have problems with chicken and that is the one thing that I tolerate very well.

I was allowed to have broth.  It's nice to have something not sweet after jello, popsicles, crystal light etc, especially if you did a pre-op shake diet.  The unjury chicken broth is full of protein and was really helpful to me post-op.  Best of luck!
