It's the sugar alcohols.  My husband eats candy with sugar alcohols when he needs to, well, loosen up.

That makes sense. I've eaten a Quest bar the last 2 days in a row & oh boy did my stomach hurt today.

They have a lot of fiber in them. I'm often stoppered up, so I can use the fiber.

They DO have a lot of fiber and some have sugar alcohol. Look at the label before you buy. I get the chocolate brownie, apple pie, peanut butter and vanilla almond crunch. Those do not have sugar alcohol but still have plenty of fiber for a more natural void. :)

Hmmm the sugar alcohol in the bars seems to be erythritol,  which doesn't tend to cause the gastric distress that other sugar alcohols do,  that's why in the past I've cooked with erythritol,  it works much better than maltitol (which will make you run to the bathroom).   I'm actually surprised that so many of you are experiencing problems with erythritol,  the lack of gastric effects is the reason they use it.

Nope.  They are fabulous!  It says on the package that they have no sugar alchohols...right?

I was running to the bathroom straight out of a dead sleep. The Quest bars say "No sugar." I'll have to look more closely at the packaging.
I need the fiber just not that much fiber. Lol
