Some people are just rude!

Now I work in the medical field and I've been called all types of things by patients. This lady literally asked me if I was having a baby!! Lol I said No and laughed but after a while thought about it and figured that laughing was my way of hiding that insecurity because my stomach has always been my trouble spot and probably always will be! People don't realize that if u ask someone that and THEY ARE NOT PREGNANT, it is rude and uncomfortable LoL. I mean it didn't bother me for too long because its not the first time someone nosey has asked this but damn. I was just caught off guard and guess I needed a little venting session.

I'm sorry that happened to you. People are so rude. I carry my weight in my belly too. I refuse to ask a woman if she's pregnant unless she's practically crowning.

Some people are just plain ignorant & dumb.  Glad to hear you moved on.  You are above that ... keep smiling!!

Same has happened to me many times because my stomach favors my weight.  I'm even worse post op because I'm losing so much weight everywhere else but not the stomach.   I'm like shopping for maternity clothes because it's the only clothes that fit me right and I'm NOT pregnant!   GRRRRR! 

I used to get asked that all the time. It puzzled me.

I also carry almost all of my weight in my stomach...I've Been asked many, many times if I was pregnant also...once an acquaintance asked, I said no...and she started insisting I was, over and over again, then put her Hand on my belly...
Her hubby was frantically shaking his head NO...but she just kept on...
I finally said... no, just fat! ....And had to walk away or I would have popped her in her mouth...RUDE!

I'm sorry this happened. It is frustrating and humiliating. It makes me wonder what I'm going to say. I did go through a phase of being asked this all the time back in about 2000/2001, and although at the moment I am sufficiently round all over, I wonder if I'm going to go back down "through" that phase as I lose. Then, there is always the issue of what my brain says vs what my mouth says. My mouth is often much nicer, but I wonder if someone is going to get an earful one of these days...

When i was talking to my sister one day about having my surgery, my 4 year old niece asked me if i was going to the hospital to get the baby out.  I laughed because it was cute and innocent.  Had my sister or any other adult said that to me, i would have been upset because then it would be on the lines of rude and inconsiderate.  

I have an apple shape and carried tons of weight in my stomach. I looked prego...and very fat. I have before and now pictures in my profile. I lost a little over 200 lbs. An apple shaped person at over 300 lbs is much diffrent looking that an apple at 140. People are rude and should know better. Hang in there...it gets better...and there is hope of looking more "normal".

Thanks for all the responses!  I was really caught off guard!  I'm over it, it's not the first time and probably won't be the last.  I'm definitely an apple shape, but hopefully will be a much smaller version of this apple in the future lol
